The car shouldn't let you lock it when a door is still open...

That needs to be fixed... icon_rolleyes

I've been critical of this in the past as well.  Also don't like the idea of being able to open hatch, put my shopping inside and accidently leave the keys inside the hatch, shut the hatch and "oops", the thing is locked.

However, there is a positive to the locking when a door is open.  Consider this: I get to work, open the car, including the rear door.  Then I close the front door, lock the car, shove the keys in my pocket, get my work stuff off the back seat and slam the rear door shut.  This saves me fiddling for my keys to lock the car with my arms full.

If i lock the car with a door or hatch open it locks but the signals don't flash until i close the door.If the key is in the ignition and i try to manually lock any of the front doors while they're open it doesn't work, they automatically open.

Yes.  It locks the last door on closure and then blinks confirmation.  It's handy when several passengers get out; first, ensure all needed doors are open or passengers are out, then close driver's door and lock car as normal.  Then you can be away and carrying something or headed to the front door to open etc. without having to wait for all the slower ones.  biggrin
The only risk I see is if someone leaves a door open but is that really likely?  Even if an ajar door is on the first catch it becomes locked.

Dazz,

As others have said, yes to the door locking.  The closed doors lock immediately when you use the remote, as does the mechanism for all open doors, but the vehicles security system is not activated until the last door (or hatch) is closed.  That's when the blinkers flash (without the normal clunk).

The hatch unlock button is a little different.  If you use the hatch unlock, open the hatch, then shut the hatch it locks, without using the remote.  That is why you must use caution and not place the keys in the car when you put down your shopping (or watever you are carrying).  Place the keys in you pocket immediately after unlocking the hatch using the hatch unlock button, otherwise you will be in the poo!

Thanks Bob I think I have only locked the doors with one open a couple of times since I got her 14 months ago and as soon as i realise I unlock it so hadnt tested the function as described.

Since i managed a couple of safety conscious industries I find I am very aware of consequences and so unlikely to lock my keys in the car.. touch wood... icon_wink
