Crispy winter holiday morning today - sunny skies, -22°C added with frrheeeezing wind. At my place, the tempereatures have stayed below 0°C since december the 12th. I'm lucky to live in the warmer part of the country, some had it drop down to -41.3°C last night. Expecting a snowstorm to arrive for the night. It has just passed by here... Good Luck! http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab144/SRT_Metro/DSC00468-1.jpgLucky thing is that the atlantic rains arriving here are mostly dried up whilst washing over UK, Norway and Sweden... Expecting to get 10-15 cm (4-6") more snow in the night - got enough (50 cm = 20") already, though...

Is this what usually happens at UK? I mean, this long-time snowfall? Unless i'm wrong, there must be snowing for over a month... Lucky you... We haven't seen snow for almost two years now

Today the weather was absolutely gorgeous, a perfect winter day: clear sunny skies, no wind, relatively warm (-2°C) and lots of snow around. You can actually feel the sun warming a bit already. A distant birdsong was another hint of spring coming... My outdoor activity for the day was to drop few tons of snow off the house roof. Few buildings have already collapsed because of heavy snow load, there's official recommendation to clean the roofs. I did also dig my new terrace out of snow, looking forward to open the barbecue season soon (being too optimistic?).

I'm afraid... yes For the first time since december (2½ months) the temperature has gone above freezing point, being currently 1°C. There are signs of thawing starting, the trees aren't covered with frost and snow any more. I will be barbecuing in no time... This winter we have exceptionally much snow around in south - I hope the snow does not melt away too fast, otherwise there will be excessive floods everywhere.

I hope it doesn't Winter ends and we have rather exceptionally hot here (21C)... seasons of spring and autumn tends to disappear from nature

Spot on! Like all countries in the southern hemisphere (the hemisphere south of the Equator), Australia's seasons follow the sequence: * Summer: December to February * Autumn: March to May * Winter: June to August * Spring: September to November This means that the Australian Christmas takes place at the height of summer. It also means that the mid-year break for students happens in winter. The end of year break for students is commonly known as the 'summer holidays', or the 'Christmas holidays'.

The seasons in Tassie at least seem to usually run about a month later than the official cycle although "global warming" seems to have lengthened our summer a bit... The last few years December has been reasonably warm but before that we didn't get any decent weather until about Christmas but then Summer sort of ran until the end of March...

Spring in Iceland is on April 22nd this year. Although as you might know my winters aren't really really cold, but still it takes forever for the summer to arrive, and it only stays for about 2-3 months I don't get cold winters and I don't get hot summers.

Just the one day? There must be a real queue for spring weddings in Iceland. And its not even a Saturday!

I live so North that I don't get hot summers, and the gulf stream keeps me relatively warm during the winter. So, it's probably fair to say that I only get 2 seasons, Spring for 6 months and fall for 6 months

Well, in the past 24 hours, our area has had almost everything! We had a nice warm day yesterday, until it clouded over, and then according to reports we had anywhere up to 180mm of rain in about 6 hours! We then woke up to fog this morning, had a lovely sunny afternoon, and its now raining again! Summer has only been over for 7 bl__dy days!!
