Sunshine Coast Qld

Hi
I have recently purchased an i30 hatch . Delivery is still three weeks away. Having discovered this forum Ive enjoyed reading and learning about our future new car. Although this will be a replacement for my wifes CD Astra , I intend to keep my VW 1990 T3 Komby grounded as much as possible (as it drinks petrol real fast)and use the i30 for all the running around!
We are looking forward  to changing from that lemon of a car known as a TS Astra 1990 to the i30.

Regards
ajp

Looks like we're all down the south end (more or less).
You're right. There are plenty of i30's around.
They're everywhere.

Hi AJP 3830,
My Wife & I bought a i20 diesel & a i30 diesel new in October 2009, like you, we have kept our "old" cars - hers a Mercedes SL, mine a Jaguar XJ8. Whether you bother with the retained vehicle will be interesting.
We no longer use either thirst quenching, oversized, cars any more, and have taken them both off the road, & parked up.
The Hyundai's are simply much more fun, practical, more acceptable, & economical.
The Dealer has more helpful, knowlegeable, and friendly technicians (& sales) staff that I have met in years. This Forum & Website for ease of use, and helpfulness of the participants, just adds to the benefits of owning a Hyundai.

Welcome.

They are both immaculate, in the garage at home, they are both wonderful cars, to drive & for eye appeal, the Mercedes improves with the roof off, but, I like the look of both of them - equally (both silver).
I do not like the re-fuelling costs, the V8 Mercedes now costs £120+ to fill; the equivalent mileage in the i30 diesel  is £40. Both cars do 140mph, with 50/6/top limit 70, what is the point? You can have extended fun 0-62 in the i30, but only a few seconds in the dinosoars, and then break the limit, (unless in Germany on a derestricted autobahn, and then you could have cars coming up behind at over 200mph - frightening), you can watch the fuel gauge plummet in the Jaguar. Believe me, I find the i30 is so much more fun. I passed my test on my 17th birthday (yes, you could in those days) small cars were dreadful, and I had never driven one since I had owned an 1275 Austin Cooper S several years ago.
I took the Jaguar XJ8 into the local Hyundai Dealer for an MOT in September 2009, they loaned me an i20 for the afternoon, I returned it and ordered one immediately, when I went to collect it, I ordered a i30 without even driving it (there were no demonstrators available). I now drive down to Spain in the i30, and do not have to watch for fuel stations enroute to avoid running out, I am not joking. Also, you can be whoever you want in a Hyundai, I never felt at home with the poseurs in their, "I've arrived cars" - presently portrayed by Max Clifford etc. shown on TV each time with his Silver Bentley. (but, I still like looking - a bit like Dazzlers leggy blond, but not to look after.......).
Incidentally, even the i20 diesel easily thrashes the 1275S (23mpg) &  Twin DCOE Lotus Cortina (20 mpg).
As for selling them......a leggy blond cannot be just left in the garage.

Sunco have closed their service and parts at Nambour. Pity, as they weren't too bad. Not a lot of options now.

Hi again Interphase... your conversion from those lovely upmarket cars to the i20 and i30 is a real revelation... icon_cool

I could afford something much more up market than an i30 but like you I am not into creating an impression but more into value for money, good economy and FUN... biggrin
