so its been just over 9 weeks and I am still waiting for my new car. They assured me it was in Darwin on Wednesday and was being delivered to the yard today and I could pick it up tomorrow.

Well Epac Salary Solutions (i am getting the car salary sacrificed/packaged) called me today with bad news that the dealership dont in fact know where my car is. They said it is in transit somewhere.

I have been without a car now for 6 weeks and its becoming extremely frustrating. Not that I can drive it anyways with 2 weeks to go on my 1 month DUI suspended licence but the fact is I was told 4-6 weeks at the latest.

What can I do??? I called the dealer this arvo and they refused to speak to me cos Epac purchased the car and they dont care about my circumstances.

Circumstances are that we are using my husbands work ute for every day driving and we cant do alot of things cos we cant leave the car unattended for too long with all his tools and equipment in the back.

How long did everyone else have to wait?

I'm on week 17 and still waiting. Next estimate of car arrival is 2 weeks.

Can you ask Epac or your employer to provide a temporary replacement car until the new car arrives?

In early 2008 3 months was about the average wait for the Diesel.. Then later in 2008 there was a strike in Korea and everyone was having a long wait but things improved in 2009 .. but demand has never been stronger ..

Hope you get sorted soon...

It has now been 10 weeks and still no car and the dealership doesn't know where the car is.

AND I even went and looked at fords today and rang around about the mazdas and toyotas. Same story every where in Darwin .... no one keeps any stock on hand.

I'm starting to get worried cos I start a new job next week (transfer to another dept) and I have a business venture coming up that wont work without wheels.

Hi rockabette,

Tell the dealer you must have a car in the next week.. and that you are considering buying something different.. Hopefully they will lend you a car while you wait.. My dealer did down here.

They lent me the Service Manager's VE commodore for nearly a month because I needed my i30 with its towbar to do some stuff (the commodore had a towbar) I had threatened to buy a Civic from another office of the same dealer...

Epac Salary Solutions emailed me the paperwork last wednesday and I had to urgently sign and return.

Well I called and told EPAC that I would rather they make an appointment for me to come down to their office where they can go through the paperwork with me so that I could ask all the necessary questions. Paperwork has no delivery date stated and I was told I was getting the car Thursday or Friday last week. I was also told that they were trying to rush me with the paperwork bacause the NT govt payroll has cut off times to lodge applications and what not. So we missed that cut off time but doesnt make any difference when there is no car.

Anyhow the Ford guy told me today that there are issues with delivery at the moment for vehicles by road due to flooding in WA. There was also a really really nice Ford Falcon limited edition GX (i think??), all leather interior, 18" alloys etc etc for $35k incl all on road costs. Nice car but just not practical.

Hyundai have informed me that they would not lend me a car, which is totally different story to what they told me last week. ALSO.... my local Hyundai was just bought out by the local Mitsubishi dealership in the last week or so.

I picked up "Danzig" tonite!!!

Soo happy. A lil unhappy they only gave me half a tank a fuel. They said they had run out of fuel cards and to get one next time I am in. They also said they would give me dash mat and car mats for free BUT they had none in stock and to come back when they were in.

Salesman did however give me a USB stick of some Metallica albums to keep as there was a Misfits cover of the song Last Caress on there. I think my MISFITS number plates gave it away this arvo when they had to pick them up from the Motor Vehicle Registry.

Mine is a Dec 2009 build and has cruise control in the diesel auto.

I will post photos tomorrow.

I had to wait about 2 1/2 months for mine.  Glad to hear you pick yours up today biggrin  Make sure they note on the delivery papers that you are owed a fuel card, dash mat and floor mats.  We once bought a car that was supposed to have headrests on the rear seat.  The car salesman spun us some rubbish about cars in Australia not being allowed to have them, but assured us he would get them...we never did.  The lesson there being - get everything in writing.

Thanks MelWA...

I called EPAC as i got through salary packaging and they told me to send them an email in writing and they will liaise with the dealership. They too were quite annoyed about it as EPAC tells all their clients that cars will be full with fuel.
