it looks like it will be a right off and they will only give me market value  Cry it is only 13 months old and 30000 km

I would send a polite email to Hyundai customer services with picture on the dents and ask them what they think, and say are they willing to help you replace the car.

Never going to happen, that would open up a large can of worms. Some of the hail stones were the size of large lemons, I saw news coverage where holes were punched in garage roofs and the hail stones were still able to dent the car and smash car windows and windscreens. Unfortunately in OZ this type of damage is not that uncommon

Wow, my insurer replaces for new if written off in the first 3 years. Who is your insurer?

Sadly, just arrived home from local (Port Fairy Folk Music Festival) and both my i30 and Getz have hail damage.  Dunno where I stand with insurance but I'm very pissed off!  My car (i30) was damn near perfect body wise... not a scratch!!  For 16 months I've never parked next to another another car and the body was literally perfect WRT scratches/dings.

Buggar!!!

sorry to hear about your cars pip.  icon_mad Cry

lindlake real sorry to hear about your i30,just have be sure the panelbeater specialises in hail repairs, there are some clever machines out now to remove those dents.
Oz can be really for hail, in Bris we have had some bad storms and hail late last year mates 4wd had $6,000 worth of damage .

So that's a repair then and not a write-off? You happy with that? It'll look better than new when done, I reckon

Yeah.. In the circumstances sounds like the best result.. Just make sure you inspect it in daylight (and not in the rain) when you sign for it after the repair to make sure you are happy with the result...

Mine's booked in in a couple of weeks for an assessment. I hope I do as well. I still have to put $500 excess towards it though (actually $1000 - 2 cars  Cry)

Make sure you read what you're signing when you inspect the repair.

Some insurers will try to sneak in various clauses of questionable legality (I know people who had a prang in the car and when they were signing to say they were happy with the repair the insurance company also tried to get them to sign something which would waive their right to claim for injury afterwards)

Update on mine: Had one car assessed so far (and the other is virtually identical) and I'm told that they just push the dents out from behind and no painting required at all.

They need to strip the head-lining of course and whatever else to get to both sides of the panel and then just painstakingly "undent" every dent.

They actually do it where I had the assessment and I could see someone playing with a bonnet although I didn't watch the process. I was however shown a half done BMW boot lid which they obviously keep to show people like me who expressed doubts with their method. icon_wink Honestly, if they can fix it this well I'll be happy. I simply could not detect anything on the repaired side to suggest it had ever been touched and the dented side was far worse than mine. Anyone who immediately wondered if they purposely dinted it is behind me but it did look patterned just like the top of my car. biggrin

The repairers were from the Gold coast and are called United Hail Repairs. They have set up semi-permanent shop here just for this episode by the looks.

I'm in a bloody long queue and will not get it fixed until June and will take a week!

It surely couldn't take more than a week each car so I assume they are doing them one at a time!

Looks good (and the blue does seem darker than original - but looks very nice)

Was there enough tread on the tyres to get you by for now?
