I know that it's not exactly 'Mod of the Month' material and it's hardly challenging, but I thought I'd take some pics of the headlamp bulb upgrades just in case anyone fancies having a go, but they've not done it before.

It took me 15 minutes per side, changing all three bulbs (main beam, dipped beam and sidelight).

Before I do the photos I must say thanks to ouri30 for pointing me in the direction of the Osram Night Breaker bulbs. Here is his thread on the subject - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=63&p=4085#wrapheader

Ok, here we go...

1. The bulbs (£32.96 [67.00aud] for the lot), from LeadingLamps on Ebay UK - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/leadinglamps_W ... idZ2QQtZkm

2. Undo the 3 x 10mm bolts - The 2 you can see on top and another one inside, half way down...

3. Unclip the black plastic cable tie (left of the base of the washer tube). It's easy to do by hand...

4. Pull the lamp unit gently forwards and up a bit at the front...

5. One of the 2 caps unscrewed and removed...

6. Unscrew one of the caps - this one reveals two bulb housings (one of which is the sidelight)...

7. Unclip the main bulb by hand and replace it with your nice new bulb (don't unscrew any screws) - now do the same with the other main bulb, in the other housing...

8. Remove the sidelight bulb & holder, if you're replacing it. This one just pulls out, it doesn't unscrew...

9. When you do the RH side (as you look at the car from the front), you will need to remove the main plug or the headlamp won't come out far enough...

10. Slide the lamps back into place, making sure that the lugs go back into the holes at the top. Then grease the bolts before you replace them...

Job done, time for a beer!

Thanks!  8-)

Anyway, I now have a spare set of bulbs in case we go to France or somewhere.

I must say I was very pleased with the design and fabrication of everything I messed around with. +1 to Hyundai for this.

i30manUK good pictures and easy to follow.

Now that you done this can you take the rest of the car to bits, photograph it and put it together just like Haynes.

hi
my friend with KIA C`EED installed "Xenon" system, but he doesn't like lights, because they appeared yellow.
Than he bought "Philips cool blue", but they again appeared yellow. And i think, that "Osram system" is like "Philips"
And than he found "Led lights".
This is the difference between them:
 - this is "white" Philips":

- this is "Led":

- this is the difference (Left - Philips, right - Led):

with two lights:

can you show us a picture  <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8-)" title="Cool" />

...and definitely MUCH whiter/brighter than the fog lamps - so I suppose I need to change those next!

Here's a pic Hemmi, but it doesn't really show the difference very well.

They're nothing like as white as the HID bi-xenons on my 350z.

Thanks heaps for all the great pix i30manUK and Dani...

Just an observation ... the Fog lights are supposed to be yellow so they show up better in the fog (so it might be best to leave them as they are!)

Thanks for that Dazz. The i30 fog lights aren't actually 'yellow', like some fog lights used to be, they are just a yellowish tinge of white and not particularly bright (a bit lame in fact, if I'm being blunt), so I may still upgrade them at some point. However, I like your idea of really strong yellow ones - could look cooool  8-)  8-) . Does anyone know where I can get really bright yellow bulbs?

 - of course your post provoked the google in me, which led to these interesting articles on the subject of 'yellow fog lights'...

i reckon these method is.. overkill for only changing/upgrading halogen bulb.. coz i find another method that didnt required any headlight removal or washer removal.. .. it just need to uncliped the guard on front tyre ...

these method is good for quick HID upgrade <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smiley" title="Smile" />

Mullet,

I gave up trying to find a seller in Oz and got them direct from the UK.  Took about 10 days to arrive.

Mullet,

I bought mine from PowerBulbs http://http://www.powerbulbs.com, but I think Shambles fround a better deal than I did.  I can't remember the exact price but I think, from memory, I paid about AU$160 for some H1, H4 and H7 Nightbreakers.  I put them in the i30 and the Getz we have.

Mullet, the people I got mine from will ship worldwide, from the UK (link is in the first post). If you were to buy both the H1's and the H7's I think they'd probaably charge you something like 77audollars - and you get 2 free sets of sidelight bulbs.

Hello guys, any suggestion, how I can adjust the height of the light-beam upwards? It seems to me, that the bulbs are "pointing" too low, but I do not really know how this can be changed (I know about the small turning wheel to the left from the steering wheel, but this is only for turning the lights downwards). I had a Skoda car previously and it was quite easy to adjust the direction of my front bulbs in any way. Just removed the hood and there was a plastic screw on each of the reflectors.

Any ideas please? I am browsing the internet on this topic for weeks already, and still no results Sad

Thanks for any advice in advance!

I'm just wondering how come so many people have done globe upgrades and later on in the site mentioned they needed to change the upgraded globe due to it blowing or refit the original globes back in their cars.I'm one year in still using the original globes allround and not had to change a single globe.is an upgrade really worth the cost and the hassle involved.?

.. in my case, no it wasn't worth it.

Been through 2 sets of Osram NBs; they just seem so fragile. Back on original stock and going fine
