I decided to fold the mirrors by using the remote.

That would be my choice too, as it would serve as a double-check that you'd locked your car, when you're walking away from it.

Unfortunately it doesn't guarantee that all doors were really locked: The mirrors also fold when one or more doors are opened. So the folded mirrors don't demonstrate, that the alarm system ist turned on...

Bfc,  have a look at the first post in this thread. It's very simple.  By far the best mod I've done.

It only works on existing folding mirrors.

Yes,  the manual close/open feature using the switch will still work.

I've found a kit that fits an 11-13 elantra there basically the same car as the i30 aren't they

Never mind I managed to sort it out. I installed this mod on my GD trophy if anyone else is interested there is a kit available
