Good : We can be contacted at any time
Bad : You are therefore expected to keep working all the time

Good : You can tell someone you are running late
Bad : Running late is no longer a worry.

Good : Being in contact means you never have to be bored
Bad : It’s getting harder to wrench yourself away and find solitude.

Good : You can spell check your Emails
Bad : You no longer need to know how to spell and it bites you in the ass when you hand write anything

Good : Even when out walking down the street, you can constantly text and twitter
Bad : You will eventually walk into a lamp post - or worse - into a stream of traffic

I bet you can add to this list………..

I despised my works phone because whenever it rang I knew it might be some long query about some problems - or that I'd have to go in and fix summat.  Though that stooped in 2006 when I retired.

After that I carried a phone everywhere in case my aged and feeble parents needed something, which I suppose was good actually. Then got a Blackberry so I'd get "push" email notifications from the cameras at mother's house in case she went wandering off and I'd have to go and rescue her, so that was a cause of some worry at times.

Very useful in the pub to find out some facts from t'interwebby rather than talking nonsense about some misremember facts.

Wouldn't like to be without one now though. :)

Definitely can't see myself without having a smart phone. So much convenience. It's even killing me just running an iPhone 4S after my Sony Z1 died :(

I've got a Z1 (pretty happy with it)

+ Nice big screen when viewing maps or web pages..
- Bit heavy and bulky in my pocket.

A bit like your wallet, Dazz.

I use my phone a fair bit for work.  It is great for updating weather and stuff for flight plans, also ringing base with problems and solutions.

I loved mine. Took it swimming many times taking photos. Last time I didn't realise it had a hairline crack in the back glass and water got in. No insurance no warranty so I'm downgraded to wife's old iPhone with shagged ext. speaker for another 12 months when contract expires :(

Hair never goes anywhere near me so I should be safe to take mine swimming!  :victory:

My life is about to change. There's a Moto G under the Christmas tree for my year away from home.

Yep, very uncomfortable shopping for an outlay I wouldn't make if not for the circumstances.

We found this as a good set of capabilities for an unlocked phone needed just to stay in touch on a cheap deal, given that next year is Melbourne and the following is Indonesia. :D

I've had a Moto G for a few months and find it absolutely fine. Though the photos aren't quite as good as my Galaxy 2.  Much cheaper now I'm on PAYG.

Thanks. Yes, 5MP camera but I have a separate camera and the Galaxy Note 10.1 with a camera as well. As long as this gives me accessibility in a pocket and won't be obsolete in the next 3 years, it fits the bill. :victory:
