Hey Wilko , nice bikes & love your little Jimny, i was looking at one too. have you ever crossed a flooded causeway with floodwater rushing from down a hill?
i got a Trek hard tail & a skinny tyre flat bar bike for pavement, the Trek has 29" wheels seems ok brakes work good, i do about 140k per week some on my own some with a group.

After an absence of what seems to be about 23 years I am planning to get back into the saddle. Just checking out potential rides now. Previous ride was a Rossin Ghibli. This time I'll need to settle for something less exotic.

I've been thinking about it. Seriously.
Wouldn't mind someone to ride with though.

Out today and did 30 miles................................ and the temp is 28C......................No breeze......

On my own so was able to cover twice I would normally do.

Took train to Ellesmere Port via Birkenhead.

Joined the Shropshire Union Canal and did 7 miles to Chester along the tow path.

Then took the disused railway line from Chester to Shotton which has been made into a cycle path for 8 miles.

Then across the Burton marshes from Shotton to Parkgate via the Wirral Way, 7 miles.

Had chips for lunch from the award winning chippy in Parkgate...............and a can of Iron Bru..........(no beer today folks).

Then along the Wirral Way to West Kirby, 8 miles.

Then train back to my home station.....

My shirt was a few pounds/kilo's heavier with the sweat......

Asa,
went past the hossie and although no cars in car park I could hear what sounded like workies inside the building doing something as there was a lot of noise.......and it was loud.......

Sounds like a good ride Lester , what was the humidity? 28c does not sound too hot but if there is a lot of water in the air it feels a lot hotter.

Sounds like the humidity was up, if you don't drink a lot on a hot humid day when riding that far you would get dehydrated, i only did 16k today but lot of hill's & first 8k i road into the wind.

Just saw on TV last night, people who run so many K a week have 40% less chance of a stroke.
so double to distance on a pushy & should be right, my friends heart specialist rides a pushy. Swimming & Surfing would be great excursive too. but runing your hands over a keyboard  :disapp:
so no Excuse Dazz & Steve

apart from running being bad for hips and knees, it is also a fact that more people have strokes from running than swimming and pushing...

No need to run, wear your joints, suffer repetitive impact.
I do daily weight training as 5 sets of 7 reps for distinct muscle groups, mostly using dumbbells. I choose weights high enough to fail at the end of each set. My aerobic performance has never been better. :victory:

New ride, Orbea Opal. Engine's a bit rusty but the bike goes great. This one has a Shimano drivetrain rather than Campagnolo.

very nice Keith, i have those wheels on my flat bar bike that i use on cycle path. the rest of my riding with a group is on dirt tracks that are rough so use the mountain bike. i like the juice disc brakes the mountain bike has the best.

I have ridden my bike so much over the last few months i now need 2 new tyres.

Not showing canvas yet but the tread is just visable on the back so i now have slicks so no going thro' puddles!

Price vary so much from £9 to over £40 but wonder if i buy dear will that make much difference. Doubt it!

Any pointers from the pushie crew

It can do. For the miles you do you would want a good reliable tyre and one of the better brands. The better ones roll better and smoother than the cheapies. Whether you need to spend a whole £40 though is hard to say.

:link: Urban | Maxxis USA << Maxxis are a decent brand and worth checking out.

All hail the pocket computer. Now you can record where you have been with apps like Strava and Nike run for your smart phone.

&action_type_map=[%22fitness.runs%22]&action_ref_map=[]]Click here for an example

I've committed to a 100km lap on the Brissie to Bay next year. This is a charity ride for MS Queensland. I have until June to get myself into shape and I'm hoping for a four hour journey. Once upon a time, that would have been no challenge but right now its apparent I have some work to do to achieve that objective.

I'm resurrecting a couple of the other bikes as well. Today I pumped up the rear tire of the cruiser which immediately exploded. The tire, not the bike. Might be a while since it was last used.

The successful repair of the sadly neglected cruiser which has been outdoors and unused for some time. The cruiser lived on the bike trainer previously and following some new tubes is back there again. Even the spare tubes I had stored in boxes disintegrated when I tried to inflate them. All good now though.
