I have a diesel hyundai auto which surged when I started the engine.
I had it inspected by my dealer and was found to have a faulty brake sleeve which will be replaced but my worry is that the transmission fluid was dirty brown.
After reading about all the problems with the i30 transmissions I am worried that the transmission is on the way out and I might be up for a new transmission just after my warranty expires in June 2017.
As reported by my dealer: Internal malfunction in transmission

I know as much about cars as I know about brain surgery.

Hi Harry,

Monitor it closely after the adjustment and keep any paperwork related to this fault safely filed.

What mileage have you done? I believe the transmission should be serviced at 90,000 kms or earlier (and the oil changed)

If there is some evidence of transmission problems during warranty you may be able to claim outside the warranty period (but don't hold me to it)

Was a little hard to understand but looks like they checked pressures, found out of spec and replaced valvebody. Is this correct?

Valve body means new auto fluid anway.

So you get a new valve body, and a transmission flush for free.....I'm a glass half full kinda guy

I did 136,101 in my 2010 Auto CRDI without incident (recently sold it)  and my wife had her valve body replaced on her 2011 crdi auto early in the piece and there have been no problems since (she has done 56k from memory).

Thanks for that.
I hope that this will be the end to my problems.
Reading all the posts there seams to be a lot of problems with the transmission on Hyundai cars.

Considering how many posts and how many members on here, not a huge percentage. If you check out VW or Ford forums I'm sure the incidence would be higher...

I think there have been a couple of bad ones in 2010 diesels, a few valve bodies, like yours.

But that's about it. These forums tend to show the issues up a bit....

Oh and Dazz you forgot the Holden Cruze....They have quite the reputation for it.....

'

Only did mine once at 90k, but then I was fairly sure I was going to flick it at the end of the warranty.

Changing the fluid at 25k would be an expensive pass time.
