Hello all! Since my 2010 "Touring" is in the repair shop and I have little else to do I thought I would take the time to ask a question which has been on my mind since I bought this car. I have noticed that if I have been using the headlamps, then park the car and prepare to get out, I'll often notice that my lights are still on, but there is no audible warning of this. Is this perhaps Hyundai's way of hightening driver alertness? Or is the chime in my particular car broken? Any info would be appreciated as I would much rather avoid a flat battery. Thanks much and happy driving to all.

The older model i30's used to turn off the lights immediately when you turned off the ignition and pulled the key out .. the newer ones (like yours) have an escort or (follow me home feature) which leaves the lights on for 30 seconds so you can get to your garage light switch or front door etc.. befor they go out.

When you get her back test it just to make sure your model isn't any different... :D

Did someone post that pressing the lock button twice (on the keyfob) extinguishes the headlights straight away?

Or did I dream that? (I've just watched Source Code so my imagination could be running riot )

my CW does that ... if i leave the headlights on, press the lock once locks the car, 2nd press switches off the lights. when i press unlock on the keyfob doors unlock & headlights + all cabin lights switch on but headlights remain on only for about 30secs but once key is inserted into ignition & car started headlights switch back on. incidentally ... will starting the engine with the headlights on shorten lamp life?
