As an ex-Honda owner, they still have a spot in my heart and there is space for this little hot hatch too

Any other Honda fans over here?

Quote
After months of teaser images, prototypes and heavily disguised spy shots, the production-ready Honda Civic Type R has landed at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed a “race car for the road”, the newcomer is primed to take on Ford's new Focus RS, also debuting at the show.

Honda has announced that its hot Civic will be priced from £29,995 with the GT version adding £2,300 to that figure. The Japanese brand also revealed that new mega hatch has set a scorching time around the Nurburgring Nordschelife with a lap of 7 minutes 50.63s in close to production spec guise. Honda has also hinted that a lightweight track-focused version of the Civic Type R could be on the way. The new Civic Type R features a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC petrol engine, producing 306bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine red lines at 7,000rpm, and delivers peak torque from as little as 2,500rpm.

I've had two Honda motorbikes so I'm a fan of their robust tech.

But I wouldn't want to own that "hot hatch"  :disapp:

I think they ruined it when they added the rear:

It's actually quite a grand design.

The new Civic Type R would make a great camping vehicle. You rock up at the camping site, pitch your tent and set up your amenities, but then you realise you left your camping chairs behind...

Problem? Not anymore! Thank goodness for your Civic Type R with a built-in park bench - and it's elevated off the ground so that the ants can't get to you while you perch and watch the sunset

Honda is going to make millions

Never owned one but like the look of their civic-r but don't like this one, lines don't look right, when you look at the side view photo the rear lights seem to bulge out, doesn't do anything for me

Honda build good motor's, for sure.
i still think the S 2000 sport, would be for me.
they build good Bikes i've owned two Honda Motor Bikes, so i must be a fan.
but right now i don't think that Civic Type R would last long if i was using it as the plastic skirts would all break, the wheels would probably break too.
but nice little car & if thats $29,995 in Australia with that performance, thats a real Bargain!

I'd keep the wheels and the motor ( ditch the rest ) and put it in something nice :D

The flares over the rear wheels look horrible as does the winged park bench on the back and tail lights, the vents under the side mirrors look odd as well and way to much red used on the interior :sicky:

I'd rate it about as appealing as a Toyota Prius :disapp:

Poor old Wabbit..  :disapp:

I reckon it would be great to drive and I don't mind the interior.. The New Honda NSX and Mitsubishi EVO 11 are both going to be amazing (but a lot more expensive..  :whistler:

Firstly the Civic Is OK but not great in my eyes.
Hybrid supercars are stupid. If you want to buy into the global warming BS go buy a freaking Prius like all the "look at me I'm saving the planet" celebrity's drive. More petrol for me to burn.
I wonder if Mitsubishi will use the Hyundai built block again for the Evo 11?

Don't know who is designing the cars at Honda, but they could use a DCM medal.

It is a shame, because the cars are well built.

I looked at the new HR-V, good engine and transmission, good economy, great 'magic' seats and a nice dash inside,  but it is the same issue, it looks Goofy.

Hybrid supercars are stupid.
They cant be that stupid otherwise they wouldn't waste millions of dollars in designing them and get results that are far better than ever obtained previously on the older type super cars.

The advances in these super cars eventually trickle down through the standard cars brands in years to come to give us all benefits and if I can drive a car in the near future that outperforms the current cars and I also don't have to pay for petrol then bring it on :goodjob2:

I know where Tim is coming from though.. :disapp:

BUT, the torque of an electric motor is nearly as addictive as the sound of a V8 or a V12!  :happydance:

I like Motors, i don't like battery's, simple as that.

what would it be like owning a car like that in Australia with low speed limits & some states only allowing 3kph error with hidden speed camera's. like buy a super car to drive slow :disapp:

Or anywhere else, for that matter. Most (developed) countries have similiar regulations.

I like traction motors, they're smoother.

The way of the future I think.

8 x 6000 Hp Locos, 7.53 kms long & 99,000 Imperial Tons.

If you have the time, poor quality video.  :fum:
