Hmmm, parked car as usual last night with no problem.

Popped it into reverse this morning and the rear sensors on continuous beep, despite being nowhere near anything, centre red bar on the dash showing, nothing obstructing sensors and no dirt/condensation on outside.

Anyway, your system is probably the same as the Hyundai so this is what the manual says :

Non-operational conditions of rear parking assist system

The rear parking assist system may not operate properly when:

1. Moisture is frozen to the sensor. (It will operate normally when the moisture has been cleared.)
2. The sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked. (It will operate
normally when the material is removed or the sensor is no longer blocked.)
3. Driving on uneven road surfaces (unpaved roads, gravel, bumps, gradient).
4. Objects generating excessive noise (vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes) are within
range of the sensor.
5. Heavy rain or water spray exists.
6. Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are within range of the sensor.
7. Trailer towing.

Other than that it could be moisture in the connectors, or just a broken sensor.

I've recently purchased a Kia Cee'd and had the continuous beep problem with mine, should have stuck with my i30   

As a temporary measure I switched it off as the noise was doing my head in, but as the car was filthy dirty I washed it and then re-activated the reversing sensor and all was working fine again.  Not sure whether me switching it on and off did the trick or the sensors were just covered it too much dirt?  If you have the same problem again and the sensors look clean, might be worth trying switching it off, leaving overnight as I did and re-activating again.  Mine has not played up since even though the car is getting filthy dirty again

Sounds like it could be an overly sensitive sensor. If there is a wiring/sensor or module issue it will beep a certain number of times to indicate which sensor or module.

I have switched them off whilst parked at work, be interesting to see if I get the same behaviour tonight / tomorrow.

She is booked in for her first service later this month, so I will get them to look at it then if it continues........

The i40 in particular has been plagued with people getting replacement sensors, although mine were always fine, there are some reports of the Cee'd requiring the same......

Same problem on Saturday morning which had rectified itself somewhere along the 20 mile journey to play golf.

When I got in the car to come home the reverse sensors were fine, backed out of the space, put it into Drive and the front sensors went off.  This also rectified by the time I got home.

Yesterday and today the problem has returned to the rear.

Is it one module that controls all of the sensors as this suggested to me some central problem rather than an individual sensor?

As far as i know (Hyundai i30) the front sensors are slightly different in that they are speed dependent so they have a seperate governing module. I realised this when i looked at the option for retro fitting a set (which i decided against on a financial basis). They were original Hyundai sensors.

How (or if) they are coupled internally i couldn't say (COZ I HAVEN'T GOT A WORKSHOP MANUAL (somebody?))

Sorry, pet hate of mine....... always had a factory manual for all my cars and bikes since 1978 but i can't find one for the i30

That would make sense Dave, the Cee'd front sensors are also speed dependent.......

One faulty inner passenger side rear sensor, back for replacement in two weeks time.

Fairly simple to diagnose.
