Warranty expired last week.

In the 5 years:

Year 1
-------
New Radio (Traffic Announcement issue)
Glue rear shock covers

Year 2
-------
Nothing

Year 3
-------
Ignition key spring fix (intermittent doors not locking)

Year 4
-------
Headlamp Wiring fix (TSB for bulbs blowing)
Drivers door latch cable (TSB for cable breaking)

Year 5
-------
New Brake Light Switch (TSB for faulty switches)
New Flywheel (vibration at idle)
New 3 part clutch kit (noise at 1800 rpm+)
New Washer Sensor (light always on)
New External Temperature Sensor (8c all the time when not 8c)
New immobiliser reception Coil (intermittent fail to start, random fuel pump P codes)
New Air conditioning Condenser & Re-Gas. (Condenser leaking, not holed by stone)

Those marked (TSB) were pro-active fixes for faults I did not report.

I thought it only fair to get my money's worth In year 5  . To Hyundai and Dealer's credit I NEVER had to argue to get anything fixed, even with the (noisy, not worn) clutch in the last 4 weeks of the warranty.

Sat on the fence about buying a new one in 2015.

Although they would be classed as minor issues, in the grand scheme of things on a car, you can see the worth of a 5 year warranty as the majority are in years 4 and 5 which would be outside warranty period with the majority of makes.

I'm in the same boat and sat on the same fence.

Do I trade in when March arrives next year, or assume that as nothing serious has happened yet then it will plod on without problems?  I only do a low mileage so maybe that helps the cause for keeping it, plus I'm mean and don't like spending money.

I think Lorian has done well!  My 2010 facelift CRDi auto has had (not including the tsb's which I dont see as faults as HUK have been "proactive"):
Radio
Instrument Cluster
Automatic gearbox
Re-bonded front bump stops
Windscreen wiper arm
Steering column including eps
Gear knob
Re-bonded 4 bump stops
Osf door latch
Osf window motor
Gear control cable
Replaced egr valve

And the car is not right /in dealer as I write.
This is a car that has never been abused, overheated or been misfueled etc in its 52,000 miles approx.  However I reckon my woeful experience is not typical - indeed the AA man that attended the breakdown (that led to egr valve) couldnt believe it was a breakdown and initially strongly suspected misfuelling or dpf issue (he was wrong).
To be honest, I have had lots of cars that I have owned into old age with daily active use, but never felt such an acute need for a warranty.
Fingers crossed for a better 2015
Ed
