Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum and new to the Hyundai experience. I just recently purchased my 2013 i30 Style CRDi 1.6 and am currently getting to grips with what's under the hood. In the first pic you'll see 4 numbered items that I need help with in identifying. I think I know what these bits are but I want to be sure. Numbers 1-3 are for sure sensors but what sensors and 4, is it PCV valve or a breather tube?

What is this item bolted to the firewall?

Also, not in any pic (difficult to take a pic of) but what is that boxlike item that connects the intake to the airbox and what's its function?

Any help would be grateful.

Ps my search for an i30 service manual is proving fruitless. I so far have come across one for models 2008 - 2010 on emanualonline.com but nothing for more recent models. Any clues as to where I could source one would be appreciated.

Since your car is still under warranty for some considerable time I take it this is just out of interest ??????

Someone will be along shortly to enlighten you, not me as I do not own an oil burner..

Hi and welcome.

1 and 2 are indeed O2 sensors (not sure about 3 and 4)

The item bolted to the firewall is the ESP/ESC control device.

Thanks for the reply!

Two 02 sensors?? Why not just the one then?

I think there are 4 actually... two pre-cat and two post-cat.

Been a while since I last saw the engine configs - my copy of the GDS no longer loads and I don't have much time to repair it yet.

Ok thanks for the info.

About this GDS, I've come across it recently in my search for a workshop manual for the i30. It doesn't appear to be a tool one could purchase readily. Is this the case?

Hi

 :wttc:

Number 3 I believe is the Camshaft Positioning Sensor

Number I'm unsure about, need to check my own engine tomorrow. Need to see where it ends.. ;)

Yes, the camshaft positioning sensor would make sense, thanks.

As for number 4, mine ends up at the air duct. It meets just before the duct connects with the turbo.

Welcome wesair80,

No.1 is the Lambda Sensor. Like an oxygen sensor.
No.2 is Exhaust temperature sensor. There are 2, one on the turbo and one on the DPF when fitted.
No.3 is Camshaft sensor.
No.4 is crankcase ventilation. Stops pressure buildup in crankcase from piston movement.

Item on firewall is ABS/ESC module.

As for box in intake I'm not sure what your referring to so can help there.

Is the bit in the intake bolted to the airbox? Does it have wiring connected to it? If yes then I think your looking at the air flow sensor.

As for crankcase ventilation, so this lets air out therefore passes it back into the inlet manifold?

I'm next trying to locate my PCV valve. Usually there is a rubber hose at the end of it and is located somewhere near the throttle body or intake manifold but no such luck finding anything that resembles it. Any ideas anyone on the 1.6 CRDi engine?

Also, anyone suss out what that unit is between the intake and air box as per my illustration marked with an arrow?

There is no PCV listed on the CRDi only on the petrol engine.
