A new public tour has opened at Land Rover's Solihull plant celebrating the firm's iconic Defender.

As part of the attraction, Land Rover has built an authentic replica of the production line used to manufacture its first 4x4 in 1948.

The Defender Celebration Line re-creates in detail how the first Series I Land Rover was built at the Solihull manufacturing plant just after the Second World War.

Thanks Lester, looks interesting. It's a 15 minute walk from my house and I didn't know they provided organised factory tours and driving experiences.

I might drop a few hints around the family - I have a 78th birthday coming up all too soon.

I'm going to hint to my family that it would be a good tour to do as well.  However, I don't think that they will be as warm to the idea as Alan's may be.  Maybe I'll get it for my 78th birthday as well?
