Hi all

Just wanted to run this by you guys (gals)  I have a 2008 Crdi i30 sx

When i hit the rear demister button it doesnt light when you 'depress' it.

I can however hear the relay clicking coming from the fuse box on driverside.

Fuse for this function is still okay (not burnt through) but Im not sure if its just the little light behind the button that has stopped working... any ideas ?

Paul

  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
Hi Paul, When you operate the demister button, does the rear window demist? If it does, then you're probably on the money with the light being faulty.

Wow - super late response to the question - no the relay just clicks in the driver fuse box (although the fuse is not blown and is definately in the rear de-mist slot... it just wont stay on (e.g. button wont stick or light up when you press it)

modified - sorry should say -my super late reply to the answer   :whistler:  (my bad)

Why didn't you just take it to the dealer for a warranty fix

Good answer.. Come to think of it I had two minor warranty claims on our 1st I30 that I never got around to getting fixed  :-[

Wrinkly chrome finish on passenger side interior handle and sticky solenoid in rear hatch lock  :disapp:

another way to check if the rear demister is working is to check if your door mirrors are warm.  [the mirror, not the housing]

Touch the rear window glass and you should feel a slight warmth

Go parking somewhere and get into some heavy breathing and once the windows are fogged up, try the demister....   :D

 :faint:

actually never thought that the relay clicking could have been turning the demister function on but just not displaying the light on the button... interesting proposal   :whistler:
