Can anyone explain how servicing works on a 2013 diesel i30? There is mention of 2 year 20,000 mile service intervals unless certain conditions are met (short trips, mountains, heavy traffic etc) but then lots of people talk about 1 years 10,000 mile intervals. There is also meant to be a yearly check included as part of the 5 year warranty package, how does that fit in? I'm just about to buy the car and it 11 months old and done 15000 miles. It seems a bit confusing. I'll probably end having to speak to my local Hyundai dealership but just wanted to see what other people understood about it first! Thanks.

You have optional interim services and then your must do services. Just make sure you make the ones that are required. They wont void your warranty over an interim service. It would be a bad move in customer service. Never heard of a yearly check. Unless you didn't pass the mileage for a service

You have optional interim services ...

Not in the UK we don't.

The service schedule is written in black and white in the service booklet. The different intervals discussed on here (10,000 mile vs 20,000 mile) relate to the specifics of the car in question. For example, my 2008 model has 12,500 (or annual) intervals specified, whereas later models vary between 10,000 and 20,000 intervals.

Ah, good to know. That's a bummer. That's a long time in between each service.......

Ok here is how my 2012 active service works.

2 year service or 20k unless you do less than 10k in 12 months then interim.

So in your case as it has done over 10k in 12 months the next service is due at 20k or 24 months whichever comes first.

However, i would be asking for an interim as part of the deal

Thanks for the replies. It's cleared it up a little. The car I'm after is meant to have been serviced by the place selling it. They claim to be a full service to manufacturer spec but I'll need to check exactly what they did. Has anyone heard about the yearly check that is meant to be free for 5 years?

I think it is only free as part of the hy authorised service centre service.

If done at an indy you may have to pay an hy auth service centre to do the free check.....

But again ask for clarification

I had a reply from Hyundai and they included a PDF of the UK Serivce Book. I've included a link in case it is useful for anyone else.

It confirms what has already been said really - 2 years / 20k (miles) service interval with optional 1 year / 10k interim service.

Shambles,
Think you new car might have a different miles interval.

Did you wrangle the 3 or 5 years service foc as part of your deal?
