My 2009 FD has gone darker in the lower left corner of where the blue trip computer display is.

I am assuming a bulb has failed.

Which type of bulb illuminates this area please?

The blue trip computer itself is an integrated unit and lit internally by LED's not bulbs. If it has gone dark, it will require a total replacement. All other instrument lighting is also LED lit, extremely reliable and likely to outlast the life of the vehicle.
