My FD i30 has the FD-01 headunit that seems to be only avaliable in Australia... Anyway...

The bluetooth connectivity on it is pretty good for phone calls, but when I change it to audio to play music it sounds terrible. Just like it's streaming at really low quality.

I messaged Hyundai about this and was told at my next service they would update the firmware to fix this....

Does that sound right? Has anyway had the same issue and found they firmware update has fixed it?

Is there anyone that has the same headunit, but plays through bluetooth perfectly fine?

This is my only gripe with this headunit.

Your right about the FD-01 only available in Australia. They are Australian fitted units.
What phone are you using? Have you tried another phone on your unit or your phone in another vehicle?
There are several firmware updates for the FD-01 but can't say if it will work for yours.

What date did the FD start having Bluetooth?

Not sure, but I think it was from the date that they fitted the first Bluetooth to an FD.   :undecided:
I may stand corrected though.   :D

Just Googled a Whirlpool post saying 2011. Nothing a Parrot-like device can't fix. Maybe someday when I actually own a phone.

Your right about the FD-01 only available in Australia. They are Australian fitted units.
What phone are you using? Have you tried another phone on your unit or your phone in another vehicle?
There are several firmware updates for the FD-01 but can't say if it will work for yours.

It seems like Australia got these funny head units from somewhere. when compared to the 08 to 10 head unit it certainly hasn't come from the same place Hyundai made the original unit. I noticed that these units are also in the iload (TQ-01)  and i20 (PB-01)

Do you know what the most recent version of this firmware is? I  bought my FD-01 head unit from a wrecker because my FD didn't have Bluetooth. Do you reckon the dealer will know to still do the firmware update?

Sorry to sound so puristant about this... there is a method to my madness. I want to dump my iPhone for an android phone and the only way to connect it and still have head unit controls will be with Bluetooth.... I hate my iPhone so much!

So does anyone use thier FD-01 head unit to play music through Bluetooth? does it sound clear?

Hi there
I have a 2012 i30 fd trophy. I don't know the exact model or the stereo but it is stock. My Bluetooth is fine for both calls and Bluetooth audio. The only trouble I have with the stereo is the USB sometimes is fussy and also the radio gets crackly at times losing reception.

To get to Bluetooth audio do you press the green call button then turn the knob till Bluetooth audio comes up then press it to select, then fire up your phone?

I use an iphone 5 and works fine.

That's interesting. Hyundai did tell me that there was a firmware upgrade to fix the bluetooth quality. The last dealer I visited knew nothing about the update. I might try another dealer.
