Hi, all, new to this forum. Have been a Hyundai owner for exactly 1 month. I love my 2014 i30 Active Petrol Auto, its the first new car I've ever owned, and its the best car I've ever driven. It was the first car I set eyes upon in the caryard, I fell in love with the Hypersilver at first glance, I drove it, I said I wanted that car and that colour and bought it that afternoon. The Hypersilver has wowed all my friends, who say it looks absolutely stunning in sunlight. I drive about 160 km a day to and from work and the car just performs superbly on the open road. I've previously owned big Aussie sedans (Falcons and Commodores), and never thought an Asian car could outperform them in highway driving, but the i30 does it easily, and the economy has been terriffic.

Never thought it was possible to be in love with a car, but I am. :happydance:

Cheers

      Caloundra, Queensland.
Welcome aboard.
That's a nice suburb in which to live. I did, before we moved to Sydney.

Your just up the road.....

Same area same choice in colour....It is the choice of engine that is letting you down

Do you travel to the Gold or Sunshine Coast?

With that sort of daily commute the diesel could have saved you some money on fuel, but horses for courses.

Neither, Beerman, I commute to Gatton 4 days a week, so the Warrego Hwy is my stomping ground. 80 km of godawful roadworks, thundering B-doubles, road-hogging rustbuckets and assorted leadfoots, hoons and good ol' boys who just like driving Dad's HiLux very fast. But the i30 handles it all beautifully.

As far as petrol v diesel goes, I never really considered it. I've never owned a diesel vehicle, always associated them with 4WDs and big Mercedes sedans, so I guess you go with what you know. But I get great economy  fuel, I'm saving at least $20 a week over my old Falcon, even allowing for using premium fuel now.

Cheers

As long as you are happy that is the main thing. I got rid of the old EL on LPG and the diesel has fairly much kept up with the money I was spending on fuel, it also has the advantage of sitting at about 2500rpm @ 110k which isn't that much more than the old Falcon.

A big plus is that in the nearly 112,000 I have done I have not done the long list of repairs that I had done to the old Falcon, in fact I haven't even changed a brake pad....
