Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these guys. Or anyone else they may have used and recommend:

I am thinking of getting the mounting plates AND the covers. A raw number plate straight on the paintwork just doesn't do it for me - it's prone to scratch the paint and crap will get behind it too.
 Any thoughts?

Having watched the video, it looks like a great idea.

Shame the vid quality was so low.

The covers look good and the site checks out as safe and legit, go for it :goodjob2:

+ Made is Tassie 15 minutes from where I live!  :happydance:
- $100 per plate holder/cover (for my car)

I paid nearly $50 a set for Altrax covers that come with plastic washers that work as spacers. Not that impressed with them as little clips that hold cover to plate are a bit flimsy and not all that secure.

Next time I will get Supercheap brand ones again for under $25 a set and just use some stick on rubber feet as spacers so no metal touches  the body..

You can get them cheaper from a $2 shop...

In my experience, those altrex ones are a POS. And there's also a bunch that use the same concept.
They use really flimsy metal clips that are nothing more than bend pieces of metal.

I might give em a call and see what the cost is. I couldn't come up with a price on the site.

So umm... $250 to do front and back. Time to reconsider perhaps?
Lol

I can't be the only one looking for a decent plate mount and cover surely? To me it seems you can only get really crap ones or super duper ones.

I never thought of doing it. Does your screw fitments not have small plastic brackets that keeps it off the paint?

Took a second to figure how to word that so the masses will have a harder time coming up with ways to crack a joke

Just get the supercheap ones and put some of the those feet on the back of the number plate like I posted a link to. Cover the back of any holes in the number plate you aren't using for screws with white electrical tape or any colour that matches your number plates (to stop dirt and moisture getting in the cover..

It's an Altrex cover but you get the idea..I used the plastic washers that come with these covers as spacers but the tourer had rubber spacers there already (at the back)

Might have to settle for this option. I've had these plate covers before - from experience they weren't that good. Your ideas will certainly improve their performance though. Might have a rummage around bunnings for those feet though.

Had the Altrex, soon got rid of them - absolute garbage. Rig up a nice piece of perspex with longer screws (or nuts'n'bolts) and suitable plastic standoffs / washers. :goodjob:
