I ask because I have had an email from BT Sport saying that BT sport 2 will be turned off in January and for BT sport 1 in mid 2015 for those who receive the channel over the TV ariel.

The options are to sign up to infinity, watch via app on PC, via the app on a tablet or use Chromecast to transfer from tablet to the TV screen.

Before anyone says move to infinity I'm happy with BB as I get between 7 to 9 mbps and get no buffering even when connected to a Now TV box.

views/comments will be appreciated......

Why did you dump it?

Was it Speed not as advertised as i've read on  the bt forum that some, mean alot, of customers are getting poor speed and even less than they had with basic bb

I bought a Chromecast dongle for $49 when visiting brother a few months ago. Had a play with it and decided it didn't do anything that I couldn't already do with my smart TV and/or NAS drive so passed it on to my Brother's Grandson ...

If you don't have a Smart TV or Network Media Player then Chromecast is a cheap way to get some of that functionality..  :goodjob:

But there's only 2 prem games a month. Hardly seems worth the cost of a caster.

OK so I phoned BT as I was reading the BT forum and a few indicated the email was a scam.

Not a scam but they are stopping the sport via the ariel anyway from Mid 2015.

Was offered the Infinity BB at the same price I'm paying for ADSL BB.

So taken up the offer as it SHOULD increase my speed from 7 to 9 mbps to 40 mbps.  If not I'll be complaining!!!!!!!

So I won't be buying a Chromecast now.

ps
I've been wanting to upgarde to Infinity for a while but when I made enquiries they always quoted the advertised price.  Today they offered 50% price so that is why I got it...

Thanks for comments etc

Umm.. don't forget that BT Sport via Infinity is internet only, so if you want to watch it on your TV you'll need to cast it somehow, or connect your laptop/pc to it.

Or do you have one of those magic boxes that connect to broadband AND telly?

I have a BT vision+ box at moment with viewing card.

They are replacing that with a new TV box and Broadband Extenders

Sounds good.

My Infinity II syncs around 86mbps. Not a bad speed I have to say, though BT Sport via broadband is dreadfully hit-and-miss, I have to say.

They offered Infinity 1 unlimited with 39-40 mbps speed at same price I'm paying for BB.

I see there is Infinity 2 available (85 mbps or thereabouts) in my area but that wasn't on the transfer offer so guess that would be the full price.

bought it for about £30 in uk when it first came out ,i dont have a smart tv and like you reasonably happy with my broadband speed of around 6 MB which is quite good for a rural area here in scotland and infinity is not available .It works well and use it when tv is rubbish to stream u tube vids to tv as well as an occasional movies downloaded from google play store ,i would say definatly go for it

just noticed your post about taking up infinity,be very wary ,my son moved house about 6 months ago and normal broadband was very poor he applied for infinity as some of his near neighbours had it and was fairly good ,6 months later he is still getting half a megabyte .the local cabinet cant cope with any more infinity upgrades as the system is full and he keeps getting promised by Bt it will be sorted soon but this has been going on for months with no sign of things getting better

Cheers for that but Yes i am aware of complaints as i have been reading the bt forum re promised speed not provided or even lower speed than they had and not being turned on on the appointed day or still waiting weeks, months etc.

Been monitoring my bb speed for the last week and if the new set up is not coming anywhere near what they promised in their confirmation email i'll be the customer from hell.......

Monitor your speed and pay them as a % of what they promised. You'll get their attention then.

Unfortunately, that kind of action tends to affect your credit rating :(

I got a rock solid high speed connection pretty much all the time, my lowest speed ever was 38 if I recall correctly.   City center, so prolly very well served.  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

I can't see you have any probs on the Wirral Lester, well not with BB speed anyhow     :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

Currently get between 5 and 9 Mbps.

Getting Infinity 1 which is 38 to 40 Mbps.

Expecting at least  38 mid 30's.

New router and Broadband extenders, uses internal house electrical system as ethernet, so I don't need to have a cable running around the skirting board and through the hall and lounge.
