Have you been to Sydney?
all the car drivers complain as no car street parking Sydney has Cycleways that have borders and dividing lines it is NOT the footpath it is Cycleways cars can not use them as they are designed to stop a car entering, if one tried the car would be stuck & undrivable the fine the driver got big $$$.
Yep, been to Sydney CBD all too often. I don't even bother with a car down there.
You have a congestion disaster that they are trying to avoid in Brisbane, by getting people to use public transport. That's fine if you only travel between home and office. But a lot of us have more diverse needs so we need a car and parking.
For several years, they have had free bikes available to ride around Brisbane city but they are rarely used.

Lester's trails are great and I get the point that we can find some nice rides in Oz.

If I'm honest, I think I just hate wearing a helmet.  I gave bikes a miss, when they made it compulsory to wear one. . Cheers  :)

i have no problem and i go to Sydney all the time i live in a sleepy little fishing village south coast No Macdonalds no KFC no fast food just good ol style cooked while you wait, one round about one set of traffic lights , NO parking rangers .love it!! I thought last time i was in Brisbane the traffic lights are slow to change i was stuck in traffic , had to drive from my friends in Indooroopilly back to Sydney was very slow going. with Brisbanes population won't happen. Sydney is where it's at!! better state government too.

Its an interim state government. When we get our next red-neck Premier , the border will close again and you "Southern Socialist Types will be turned back, no more stealing our pineapples and sunshine, and standing on both sides of a barbed wire fence, mark my words" (Joh Bjelke-Peterson)  :D

Got some new wheels earlier in the year in order to pursue Audax events.

Electronic transmission, hydraulic disc brakes, handles like a motor bike,a very comfortable place for a long ride. Audax are the long distance cycle club where rides can take from all day to a couple of days (hundreds to thousands of kilometres). For your amusement, the link below is good viewing to help you get your head around what this means: :link: PARIS BREST PARIS The long ride toward a distant dawn on Vimeo

I had the good fortune to ride with Adam Hansen earlier in the year and by and large its been a good year on the bike. I've also taken up racing again on Zwift (vracing really but racing nonetheless) and scored a podium finish in the old blokes class. So its been all sorts of fun.

Taking a break at the moment to sort out a health issue, but I'll be back into it in the new year.

And just for fun: :link: Video Gallery ? Keith and Joan's Gallery

Nice one Keith!!!!
Like Lester i would be challenged with drop handle bars, but i see it has great brakes!! could always fit a flat bar but, the bike is for riding fast and they are the right bars for the job!!

After a long year in Indonesia with our mountain bikes sitting idle in the garage, we went for some serious mountain bike riding with two of Elena's uncles through the Catalan countryside. Very satisfying, energetic and invigorating. :goodjob:

Hey Dave, yes they are a great bike to ride but have to know how to set them up. then trouble free.
I had a 2001 Twin Cam Dyna that i resized from 88 cubic inch to 95 cubic inch,  i road it from Sydney to far north Queensland two up a few times & to south Australia, Victoria & all over NSW from Sydney to Silverton & back. and in between i drag raced it in Screaming Eagle Harley's class as well as Modified Bike class. i was runing low 11's @ 120mph on average that's standing quarter mile and i was still in 4th gear it had a 5 speed GB. then the Crank Pin that is a press fit slipped, so the crank went out of coppoling. i had to get a new crank as the Twin Cam's ( 1999 up big twins ) have throw away crank can't rebuild like the old big twins i always road before i got the twin cam, but i fixed it and welded crank pin so it could not happen again. latter a crank position sensor went bike would not start, so it was laying around i worked out what problem was got the part but i hate electric's. then i saw this m2 Cyclone Buell on e bay i went saw it talked to owner as i always Loved these Tube Frame 1996 to 2002, but from 1996 to 1998 they have slightly different frame & pipes 1999 to 2002 is what mine is i would like a 1996 S1 lightning as well but, this model more comfortable. the S1 very short very small seat, plus pipes go over frame close to your leg so gets hot if riding slow.
i made a few changes to this bike like the ignition as the modular one it had was set and i felt advance was too aggressive ( harder on bottom end roller bearings ) so i fitted an adjustable advance curve, also adjustable rev limit . I also put a Billit front Engine mount as supper strong the engine hangs from that at front. i also fitted a Stenzel bar, very hard to explain, but a guy in Germany makes them & originally designed them for these bikes. with those few simple mods. the bike trouble free, just the rear seat fairing ( plastic ) broke into four, it is not structural just like a cover so i removed it. but located a NOS one . i'll get that soon. it has a cromemolly tube frame , cast alloy swing arm , plastic fuel tank plastic mud hard, six piston front brake calliper large single front disc. it weighs 190KG motor is 74 cubic inch ( not a metric cruiser!!! ) it handles really good feels stable at speeds, i can ride this bike all day just stopping for fuel, have got 3.8L/100K doing up to 110/120kph & twisty hilly country so not too bad as 1200cc. the motor is simple one CV carb two cylinders , unit construction . triplex chain primary & belt rear drive. i have ridden it 100,000k, & am about to pull motor out go over motor & gear box, this motor can be totally rebuilt, latter Alloy box section EFI Buell's can rebuild motor but not bottom end flywheels they are throw away.
But no one likes Buell!! I do!!! i'll be taking it to the track after i rebuild motor. as i want to know everything 100% inside. before i start doing high speeds on it at track.
don't see many tube frame Buell's for sale but i know guys with them one has three all the guys i know won't sell. I sold the Twin Cam to a mate he just gave it to his son who will totally rebuild the bike ground up so he knows what he is riding!! i had an old Kick Start only Shovelhead Harley i got from new & road that 1 million k's for every two top end rebuilds the bottom end needs rebuilding. well that old Shovel still can do quarter mile in 11.7 but low speed @113mph a mate still own's it and still rides it has done a lap of tassie.
sorry for hijacking pushy thread.
