Hello,

Is the leather used for the seats in the Premium/Elite GD real? Should I be cleaning and conditioning it with products such as Swissvax leather milk? I've read on other Hyundai forums that the Sonata's "leather" seats are actually coated in vinyl and thus should be treated and cared for as vinyl rather then leather.

Thoughts?

I would expect it to be real leather! You should be able to tell by sniffing it. I used Meguirs leather conditioner on our previous car which had leather upholstery and that worked well.

I've read it's real leather just coated with a clear vinyl, then again if go on the Hyundai website it states that "Leather and/or Leatherette" is used in the seats.

Yes, I'm not sure what they mean by leatherette.  :undecided:
Other manufacturers use fake leather too.

usually the parts you 'sit' on are leather, i.e front of head rest (sometimes), the middle of the back rest and the side bolsters, the seat base and bolsters.

The back, sides, front etc etc are vinyl.

Here in the US,  I found a product called ArmorAll Leather Care...it's a milky gel that works equally well on the leather seating surfaces as well as the vinyl trim. UPC code 070612109613. I found it at a local Target, and it is by far the best one-step leather conditioner I have used.

I use bowdens own leather love &  leather guard. About $25-$30 each,  so not overly cheap but very worth it! Leather looks and feels amazing after using the product. Highly recommended for your leather seats  :)

Just spend the entire day going over all leather parts of my car with Swissvax. After only 3 months of usage it's hard to believe how much dirt and oil ended up on the towel!

It does....but I do wonder how much of the seats are actually leather...  :undecided:

Which one smells the best though, from your experiences?  I've heard great things about Zaino Z10 but since the i30 interior is a mix of leather, vynil etc, people say it's a waste to use the Z10 (since it's meant for leather)
