The last remaining Avro Vulcan bomber will make two (?) farewell flights today from Doncaster. How you can make TWO farewell flights from the same airfield has me mystified 

As I have said previously I have had the privilege of sitting in the drivers seat of a Vulcan which was parked at Blackpool airport (they wouldn't start the engines and let me have a go tho)...  The cockpit is SMALLER than the cockpit in a Cessna 4 seater which means the my current Rubinesque shape would not fit at all   

I imagine it'll be on the news later, although the news nowadays is not really the news is it, it's billionaire corporations spouting their politics at us <sigh>

By landing back at it the first time?? 

It will make two farewall flights from Doncaster - both ending at Doncaster.  But one on Saturday, the other Sunday (unless they changed plans) - a circuit of the north of the UK, and then one of the south.  Doing fly-bys of many places, before it is permanently grounded - due to airframe and engine service life having been reached.

Basically it is at the point, they could replace stuff, but it would require very large amounts of money and disassembling the aircraft and engines to such an extent you are basically building a new one.

That one went for scrap eventually. I seem to remember it was sold but the buyer couldn't afford to transport it and had it cut up.
