Hi everyone,

I was wondering whether you can clarify the change schedule for spark plugs on Petrol GD i30s.  I have this leaflet which shows a change for only 3 years, which seems rather short, yet I can't find any other reference to this on Hyundai iCare website.

Would anyone know for certain if this is correct?  Please see image (sorry about small size)

Seems pretty straightforward, replace them every 45,000k or 3 years....I'd check your service manual just to be sure though.   :undecided:

*edit: just looked on the "Hyundai iCare - Lifetime Capped Price Servicing site" and it shows plugs being replaced at 165,000k or 132 months so perhaps Aussie GD i30's score iridium spark plugs...  :undecided:

I'd still be checking your service manual....

Thanks.  The leaflet comes from this link:  :link: Service Schedule Tables - Hyundai Motor Company Australia  but on another link to do with capped price servicing: :link: Lifetime Capped Price Servicing - Hyundai Motor Company Australia

Once I put in my car details it quotes me a price of $350 capped for a 3yr service, yet makes no mention of a spark plug change in that list, which prompted this.

Service schedule changed for MY12 models.
So depending what year the vehicle is by VIN (not build date) will see 45000km/36mths before MY12 and 165000km/132mths after MY12.

Wonder what is different either between the plugs or engine which alters the replacement period?

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

In east west v6 engines it is common practice to put iridium's in at the rear, because they are hard to replace. I assume Hy think iridium's will reduce servicing effort, yet maintain reliability I suppose.

Plugs changed to iridium

Thanks for that. I wonder why the version I posted is still on Hy's website for service schedules?  Very confusing me thinks.

That's not the only one...
Actually, perhaps "cruiserfied" can shed some light on why the i30 diesel fuel filter is required to be changed every 30,000k's yet with the diesel Accent, running what I would assume is the same engine, is only required to be changed every 60,000k's....  :undecided:

Unfortunately I can't answer that one. The Imax/Iload also changed from 30000km to 60000km when the new MY12 scheduling came in.

Charge the same amount but do less work = more profit? Just saying.
