Has anyone tried to modify the CW back seat to make it fold flat?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to source a hatch squab to modify the CW so the back seat will fold flat (or come up with any other sort of mod to do this?) I think this was a strange thing for them to do with the CW seeing the hatch folds flat

Was thinking today a SX CRDi CW wagon would be a nice replacement for the wife's Tiida.. but I would be fixing that back seat issue!!!

and I find it a bit steep the CW is around A$2000 for the small gain in room...

one bad thing about the hatch seat folding flat is the bottom of the seat lifts up to make the rear of the seat fold flat causing the front seats to move forward on the incline and on the rails. its uncomfortable to drive.

the other draw back is you loose 6-8" of flat floor space due to the rear seat being vertical behind the front seats.

Having one of each I guess you are in a good position to judge (so not folding flat hasn't caused any issues for you Steve? )

Have you notice much difference in the driving?

if you had the cw seat folded down often you could allways take the bottom part of the seat out to make it dead flat. IMO. last weekend we put a cupboard in the cw [seats down] that was 1.500mts long and it just fitted in because of the angle of the rear window. not bad for a small car.

and with the seat not going dead flat you only loose about 3-5" in height.

I got a 4'6" fold down cot in the back of my hatch.
I would have to look again but IIRC, the way the seat folds forward it sort of slots into the curve of the back of the front seats so you really don't lose much. I did have to move my seat two notches foward to get it down but was able to go back one once the rear seat was in place.

The other week I was able to put in my cw trophy a 2.2 metre sheet of corrugated roofing rolled to a semi circle and held together with duct tape just at an angle, I was a little bit disappointed the back of the front passenger seat would not fold flat and will only go to about 30 degrees.
I was happy enough  :)

i just hook up the 8 X 4 trailer.
Daz the CW has some nice features, but i still prefer the look of the hatch more, i like the pull out & retract cover they have behind the rear seat.
