I have had the same issue on an I30.

The car has been serviced as per schedule, at 30,000km the engine would stall when the clutch was depressed, it was later discovered that the thrust bearing was worn / fallen out and the crank would shift forward and the crank angle sensor would go out of range causing the car to stall. Hyundai warrantied the engine failure and replaced the short block with all the cars original ancillaries, sump, cylinder head etc.
Last week the car pushed the front crank seal out, after closer inspection and then removing the lower sump, the side of the thrust bearing was found sitting in the sump, allowing the crank with move fore and aft 2.4mm. The car has 180,000 km on it. Currently dealing with hyundai for the engine to be replaced again as it is straight up unreasonable for an engine to destroy a thrust bearing let alone twice before 200,000km.

I can upload a photo later today showing the thrust bearing sitting in the sump.
