Hello,

I got a phone call this morning from the service.
I have to stop there to check SW version on ECU as they have checked 2 weeks ago my comment on Hyundai's official website related to weak boost of turbo.  :)
I'm glad they took the subject seriously and realized the problem some users might face ..
I will stop by them next week for checking (all free of charge) including SW upgrade and I hope they will solve he noise issues I have inside the car (plastic parts).

They made my day by their proactive approach  :goodjob:
Please, forward the message to i30 Turbo 2015 owners -- it might help.

Euro gets a Petrol Turbo now John. Same engine as Veloster turbo, but with a different state of tune I believe. Not available here at this stage.

Hi, it is a petrol engine. It has been tuned down to 137kw instead of 150kw set in veloster engine due to CO2 emition regulations in Europe. I believe the ECU setting for this power reduction hasn't been sufficent and for this they set a new version sw to adjust acceleration issues.
Looking forward to what they will do at the service

Hi Club,
As promised, I've been to the service. well, as expected, I have the old SW version.
Now the service is in contact with the factory to check new update of SW. They couldn't tell me much but it seems that Hyundai knows something we (owners) don't know ! but they thanked me a lot for the feedback and that they will contact me ASAP once the factory replies to them.
All what we could say is, production from January 2015 or earlier till April 2015 for i30 Turbo petrol engine with 137kw has an old sw version on ECU -- newer production has the new SW applied already - that's what I understood from them today.
So if you own a new i30 turbo petrol engine, check with your authorized service to know which sw version you have on your ECU.
If you don't feel any abnormal behavior of your car when you hit acceleration pedal to the ground, then i guess you have the updated sw version, if not .. so check with your service.
I wish you all a great day

Just came now from the service.
Well, first drive with new SW feels different ... no acceleration issues just 2 rounds of turbo boost  :head_butt:
betweem 1500 and 3800 rpm (you feel the boost) then another boost from 4000 rpm ...
They asked me for feedback -- really don't know what to tell them  :undecided: it goes well -- maybe slightly better than before but I feel the 2 boosts clearly -- it didn't do this before  :undecided:
hmmmm .. I will wait till April (first regular service) then we shall see if things go OK or not.

I wish you all nice day

I would tell them you are happy but with some reservations. That it would be nice if the boost was more linear, rather than coming in two waves as described ( thanks for the update!)  :goodjob:

Hello All,

I had a nice long weekend driving my car - I couldn't do anything with current consumption -- still running with 9,2 l/100 km
But it flies really .. acceleration on 6th gear from 2000 rpm up to 4500 rpm is really amazing .. the adjustment they did on the ECU is really good.
the more I drive, the more I feel attached to this car .. I didn't feel like this even with TT -- it was fast but dangerous ..this one is more stable and you can take turns on high speed without a slight sliding -- amazing chase ..
I hope in 5 years , they will make a real hot hatch .. then everything would be wonderful .. looking forward to it.

feeling so positive recently  :happydance:

At 9.2 l/100k what speeds are you achieving

How is the DPF coping with the adjustments.

Oh sorry, it's my mistake -
I know you don't have petrol engines with turbo charge in Australia ..
but I could at least reply to the speed question  :)  it was on 205 km/hour -- not for long but always between 180km/h and over 200km/hour ..
Couldn't stay long on that speed cause the police were on the highway .. I plan to go to Germany in christmas and try the 219km/hour top speed as stated in the technical spec. of the car

ofcourse -- in Germany you could be going 230 km/h and suddenly appears another car behind you which is going 280 km/h ..
Though there are no speed limits in Germany, but you can't go constantly over 200 km/h .. then police would stop you and tell you to calm down a bit  :crazy1:
Wish you all merry christmas, too :goodjob:

Though there are no speed limits in Germany....

But there is speed limits on the autobahn many places, don't ignore them.

However, there's plenty places without speedlimits and close to Czech Republic I can recommend A93 where there's not much traffic. Here's a map of autobahns without speedlimits:
