No time to do crytic crosswords but I'll pitch some random clues at you all just the same:

1. Collective in favour of alcohol.
2. Opening to see the gain of a deer.
3. Early performance trails a slide to cover a foot.
4. In the midst of a chai restaurant there is always somewhere to sit.
5. Reversing a toothless grin reveals conceit.

Off ya go! :P

I used to do the Guardian cryptic crossword most mornings at work 20 years ago. Though sometimes I got stuck. The Times crossword was easier, though I didn't usually buy that.

Seem to have lost that facility, probably due to lack of practice I assume. Or maybe I'm old, lazy and stupid now. :)

no 4 must be chair I reckon
no 5 might be smugness

(easier if you know how long the words are)

I was afraid they might be too easy with length given, but in light of that detail, I'll pay both: chair and smug. :victory:
