I have not long bought a i30 1.6 diesel.. It's seems that when going around corners in second gear and at around 10mph the car begins to speed up.. It also does this in 4th gear when going around 30-40mpg, even when going up a slight hill.. I have been into the dealers regarding this and have been told it's an anti-stalling feature. But seems a bit strange how a feature would be added that stops the car slowing down unless the brake or clutch is preased
Thanks for any help SJH1973

Your dealership is correct - nothing to worry about.

The diesel (not desiel as in your signature :P) is a low-revving engine which the ECU needs to keep at or around a minimum of 850 rpm, so under load conditions it will boost the fuel.

Thanks for your reply.. But it will end up that I will have to replace my clutch and brake pads quicker, as I'm using them loads more now

I know you meant mph there.

What revs is your engine doing when in 4th gear at 30 mph (with your foot off the gas)  ?  Check it next time you can - I'll bet it's around 1200 rpm.

Hi & welcome.
Just choose a more appropriate gear @SJH1973
Driving diesels takes a little bit of getting used to but once you do, you'll love it.
It's great in very slow moving, heavy traffic when your feet are off all the pedals and the car is just slowly moving forwards on its own.  :)

Just seems daft to have a feature that means you haven't got full control of a car and using brake and clutch more. And I have driven  other diesel cars and neve that this problem before

What rpm does your i30 engine idle at, when warm...?

Hi SJH1973

 :wttc:

Like already said, nothing wrong with the car, you're simply in too high a gear for that low speed.. You'll find it will only increase revs a moment then settle at normal idle speed if you keep the foot off the accelerator

My i30 do the same. All correct.

You must choose another gear. You are forcing the gear if you are braking your car and below 1000rpm. Engine are suffering!!

Good car, bad driven hahah it's a joke.

Sorry for my bad english

I add that most of diesel cars do that. I had a Citroen Saxo (year 2001) and did the same, so, nothing to worry about.
