Hope the Hybrid makes an appearance at better than the $27k for the Corolla.

How bloody Austentatious of you, Dave.

That's a lot of disguise effort! I wonder how much of it is for housing instrumentation for taking readings and not just for keeping us guessing...

We know what the 2017 Elantra (USA) looks like, so I wonder whether the one under wraps will be wildly different.

They've gone to some effort to disguise the shape - I'll be very surprised if the tailgate juts out the way it appears to do!

Question - how many members will consider trading in their FD/GD i30s in favour of the new one?

If the Hybrid ticks all the boxes I will definitely be in the market...  :winker:

The lease is up on the Wife's car in Feb.

Don't know if the new i30 will arrive by then.

As usual it all depends on the money, diesel is good for me, but given her city miles a hybrid would probably be better for her.

Still If I could get the current model diesel auto for close to 20k (23 odd now) I would probably just roll into the 7 speed.

Will the Hybrid make Oz? and if so will the diesel survive?

This is my guess only. There is no info from Hyundai Australia yet (not that i could tell you if there was)

I would expect NO hybrid I30, at least not at first, i think the first Hybrids we see will be the Ioniq's.

And i think they would be silly to drop the Diesel, sure they're getting less popular but theres still a market for then.

I guess it would depend on the market you expected the hybrid to take. For example one of the local pathology services uses CRDI i30's. If the Hybrid was on offer and priced much the same, would they use the diesel for local pick ups and drop offs? The local taxi fleet says no, the stop start city driving suits a Hybrid.

On Taxi's (and Ubers) a well priced hybrid i30 could go to battle with the Prius and Corolla for the hearts and minds of the Taxi/Uber fleet.

Will be an interesting decision to watch given that we are said to be a very important market for the i30.

The interior looks more Kia than Hyundai to me but I like it.
