Just checked my vin number and have the following which don't follows as shown:Registered in mid Sept 2007 (Car released for sale in UK Sept 2007)Built in Koreanumber 5 = C - Mine is a Comfort (base model) model. Is this the same as SLX?Number 9 = R - Not 0-9 as shownNumber 10 = 8 - Not 7 as shown (When does 08 year start?)
Number 10 - 8 is correct, up until this year the years start in the august before. so from August 2007 to August 2008 (approximately) the number will be an 8.
Number 9 = R - Not 0-9 as shown
So does this mean if I was to sell I can now say 2008
The VIN code for my October 09 i30 Comfort show a different TRIM code as below:
My i30 is listed by the dealer as a MY09 but it has an A in the VIN which means a MY10 according to your decoder. Prod date is 01/09/09.
My 7th digit your post claims is always a 1, but mine has an A. Any ideas what that might mean? Lorian who started this thread Didn't come on for over 12 months although he did make a quick surprise visit the other day That it's an Elantra Touring not an i30?Also, my 9th digit is a 5 and your chart labels this as a 'check digit'. I don't understand that, can you clarify? Wiki explains it better than I can.."A check digit is a form of redundancy check used for error detection, the decimal equivalent of a binary checksum. It consists of a single digit computed from the other digits in the message. With a check digit, one can detect simple errors in the input of a series of digits, such as a single mistyped digit or some permutations of two successive digits."

...I found the two stickers in the engine room, near the fender, both left and right side.
