Hii Everyone!
I recently upgraded my standard 5" Radio to the 8" Touchscreen al went well and very happy with the new radio.
Now i also bought the original reverse camera but there are 6 wire's and don't have a clue how they need to be connected to the radio.
I already found a connection diagram for the radio on the forum but not all the cable's are listed on here.
Someone knows what they are for and how they need to be connected to the radio?
Thanks! Jacky

wow so many wires...
usually it's yellow for the video source into the HU, black to ground, red to the reverse light so that it gets power when the car is put in reverse.
-
After a long search on the web i found nothing about this. So i have bought access to the Hyundai GSW (https://service.hyundai-motor.com) in hope to find some information about this. And it was money well spend!
Apparently the extra wires are for the C-CAN connection, they are necessary for de moving guide lines to work when you turn the wheel.

Good investment! It makes sense now that you describe the reverse turn guidelines moving with the steering signal.

How's the camera quality?
It seemed that mine is like "VGA" quality.

Yeah. It's pretty poor (a backwards step!) :crazy2:
-
qvga even maybe - but after a while it doesn't seem to matter. I can drive backwards very quickly now. I have to reverse up in country roads a bit for on-coming traffic - hadn't realised what a benefit it would be.
had to replace reversing bulbs with leds to make it usable in the dark.

Yes, that's definitely worth doing. Makes a substantial difference.. still quite grainy but useable. :goodjob:

Did you have any success upgrading 5" to 8" radio?
I did mine and I have original camera already in the car. I ahve problem with USB and Camera not working. USB does not connect phone with the radio but it plays and reads from USB flash drive. If you had these problems too can you explain to me how you fixed them? Best to also provide pictures of working 8" radio. Thanks

Did you have to wire some extra cables or is the camera connector already present in the tailgate?
-
No, wires are pulled. the tailgate must be cut to mount the camera and the camera holder must be changed. the 2/5 pin camera must be connected to C CAN.
-
Just to clarify, the cables are already pulled from stereo to the tailgate?
The Hyundai mechanics I spoke to over the phone had no idea but said it was likely that the cables weren't pulled. I am in a similar situation as yourself.
I have the 5" and no reversing camera.
I bought this from another i30 that had been crashed from a used-parts web-store. Would this not be a straight replacement for the normal tailgate handle? Seems to be the same size.

Hi, I have an 8 "radio from the I30N version. I'm trying to connect the camera, also from "N". The camera has 8 pins. I am looking for a schematic or maybe someone knows how to connect.

I got my camera from a normal non N i30, so I don't think it's N specific for this camera. And looking at owner manual, the integrated camera in tail gate handle seems to be the standard for the Wagon, like I have.
The 6-pin camera seems to be standalone for the camera only while the 8-pin is integrated with the tailgate handle, so the extra 2 cables are most likely for the tailgate mechanism.
Looking at the schematic for the 8pin, 2 pins on the 8-pin are empty from camera side.

SAD UPDATE
--------------------
So I tore off the tailgate trims and lo and behold, no spare 6 or 8 pin connector to connect the camera to, even though schematics says that I should have. So if I want to connect my camera, I have to pull new wires, and then it's a much bigger project all of a sudden :(

That's interesting because the schematic that I got doesn't mention C-CAN on a M15-C connector...
Nor do I have a C connector on the AVN unit itself. I only have A and B connector.
I am assuming by this that I can connect the C-CAN cables to the M-CAN cables.
And seeing how I don't have any connectors in the wire harness already, I will just buy some extension cables, pull them through the car and splice them into the 35+38 pin adapter that I have so as to not tough the original wiring. I THINK this will work

connect the white and brown twisted strings on the CAN C from the safety panel

yes

Hi, have you managed to connect that CAN C line? I'm planning to switch from 5" to 10,25" (2022 lift version) and add camera as well. My idea is to connect those CAN C lines from camera to fuel pump under rear seat :crazy1: according to wiring diagram pump is also connected with CAN C line.
-
No i still haven't bothered to actually deal with it :) Maybe I will this year
-
COSSMA connects the C CAN cables according to the colors exactly as in the diagram above.
