Our new I30 is surging like it is gear chasing. Auto gear box. We had a Hyundi mechanic test it and he said that all new i30's are doing it. Is this true as this dosn't seem right for a new car. Thanks

Was he saying thats how they are ,or, its a problem with them all ?
Test drive another from another dealer?

Welcome Ray,
When you say Auto are you talking 2.0 Petrol with 6 speed conventional auto, 1.6 Diesel with 7 Speed DCT or 1.6 petrol turbo with DCT? Many consider the DCT an Auto even though it's actually an automated manual.
Doesn't sound right to me. I've driven a 2018 2.0 conventional Auto Go and that was fine. There has been no change of specs for the 2019 model.
I hope they are not going to try and fob you off with it being normal. We'll soon put a stop to that! :whistler:

Thanks for the opportunity to use my Crystal ball; OP says: " see a diesel i30, ah.. yes ...tis a dct auto... or possibly the owner does not know what he is driving.
Also, OP has a mechanic with fascinatingly wide ranging knowledge "all new i30's are doing it"........................
Why not ask mechanic what he means? before or us?
OP. please give us correct vehicle info, and mech advice please.

Have you sought another mechanic's opinion and explanation for this FAULT?
