  • 2021 KIA Niro 3 1.6 Petrol Hybrid
If the following article is accurate - the 2012 Kia Ceed is taking a much more conservative approach to styling than the imminent 2012 i30.

It would appear that the major upgrade - based on the 2012 i30 will not appear until 2013

But that isn't the 2012 Kia Ceed. That's 2010 Ceed - came out before the face lift of the i30. We've had it for more then a year already I think. Yeah, I remember seeing that gear knob in this Ceed first. Then it was used in the face-lifted models of i30 in 2011.

We're talking about this Ceed, right?

Are you sure? Because over here, that is Kia Ceed and is almost identical to i30.

Kio Rio overe here looks like this..

Old Kia Rio:

Okay, I'll stop with the off-topic. Anybody have any info about the wagon?

Says the there is a load of body roll on corners ?  :scared:

I'm used to it - I get a lot of body roll when I am a pedestrian... :whistler:

If a little body roll is the price to be paid for a softer ride and a quieter cabin than my present i30 - I'm all for it

A couple of things I'm not keen on with the new i30.....

* it appears cruise control isn't on the steering wheel any more.

* The stereo usb is now on the dash.

Both a backward step in my opinion...... :undecided:

Isn't the USB in the dash on all the Euro cars?

Some of the differences I noted compared with my present i30 are

* It has dual climate control - so the wife can bake while I freeze

* The electric parking brake

* Built-in sat-nav. For me this is a negative because I prefer my existing Garmin Nuvi for which I get free map updates 3 times a year and I can connect it to my computer to download waypoints and routes planned in advance. I cannot do this with a built-in sat-nav. I bet map updates will be expensive too.

* The engine temperature and Fuel gauges are now linear digital display

* The power and cigar lighter sockets are now mounted higher up - as is the USB socket.

* The 17" alloy wheels still have the dreaded chrome inserts - and the slots in the spokes are even narrower making cleaning a nightmare

* THere are 3 mystery brackets on the underside of the hatch cover

* I'm not sure where the computer trip and fuel consumption info will be displayed

* Push button engine stop/start - but will it be with a key or security card?

* i can't see where the cruise control is hiding.

My dealer - who has seen the car and attended an info seminar at Hyundai - is impressed with it. However - he believes that Hyundai will adopt the Audi/BMW/Mercedes/Ford etc. policy of pricing each engine and basic trim variant to which cutomers will add their choice from a wide range of factory fitted add-on packs. This will make it more difficult for him to stock cars ahead of sales because he will have to guess what future customers might buy.

Agree with the above mentioned points, especially the Garmin satnav. I have the same deal. Also don't like the pricing policy. The car should have variants and options available to add, if you want them. I like to walk into any dearlership and know that the car is basically the same.

i think those mystery brackets on the back of the rear seats are to plug the seat belts into ,when the seats are down flat the belts could be used as cargo straps.

Dazz

You can only do this if you have installed the Garmin mapping software on the PC. I doubt that this is covered in your Nuvi users manual. I use Garmin Mapsource - but this is an old program no longer supported by Garmin and now superceded by Garmin Base Camp which performs a similar function. The advantage of Base Camp is that it can upload the maps and waypoints from your Nuvi whereas Mapsource has to have the maps loaded independently from the Garmin site when you update maps on your Nuvi.

I'm no expert - but you are welcome to PM me with any questions if you are struggling. No promises - but I just may be able to help.   Once you get used to planning trips on the PC you will wonder how you managed without it. Another advantage is that you can open a Garmin map on the PC - browse to a place you are interested in - click on "View in Google Earth" and within seconds you are looking at the satellite view of the identical area. We always do this when planning holidays to see what the area is like.

Re cruise; it will be on one of the stalks, and it isn't that much of a difference really.

The USB on the dash is ace, Perhaps I wont forget my usb anymore?
