Interesting. Pulls no punches but generally favourable.

Yeah 8 out of 10 is a good figure by anyone's standards. I think they gave the SR 8.5 which made me happy.

The Crooked H appears to be doing consistently well in reviews. :victory:

All the positive reviews about Golf have included reasons why they love it. Perhaps it keeps getting good reviews simply because it's just very good which it seems many people don't want to accept. Just like the gearbox issue is an old issue that some people don't want to let go of. Veloster DCT ?

In a recent comparison posted here, which included a VW group vehicle and an i30, the VW vehicle was deemed the best. Some members here then implied it was rigged or they don't want to upset advertisers. Yet following a recent comparison of the i30 range, comments such as a decent and unbiased review appear. It looks like comparisons are judged biased or unbiased depending on which vehicle wins.

Loving our own vehicles is fine but bagging other vehicles is poor form.

True I guess.
But the comments about the 3 year warranty are valid.
As are the comments about not upsetting advertisers. having been a part of the automotive news media for many years I can attest to that. Which is not a criticism, just a commercial fact of life.
Plus, the article I read on line was literally interrupted every few paragraphs with an ad for or a link to VW. Which could well be taken as proof of their advertising links.
Having said all that, "bagging" the opposition is not on. But given VW's worldwide emissions scandal, they've left themselves wide open to such comments.

Looking at this from another viewpoint, the CEO of VW isn't  backwards in taking shots at Hyundai. :whistler: So let the sales results do the talking...

True.
Whereas the big boss of Toyota a few years ago said in a totally non disparaging manner that Hyundai was going to be their biggest rival in years to come.

VW have been around for a long time and have a well established sales record. I think that the reputation of VW exists because it is manufactured in Europe with German standards. The idea of a Korean manufacturer trying to knock off the German's is hard for some to believe, poor sods.  :D

VW gets its marks from on the day testing.
When they're good they are good cars. They just have woeful reliability.
