If you use your email address as a user name in order to log on to websites you can check your email address on the

 "haveibeenpwned.com"

web site it will show if any accounts using that email address have been compromised.

Open a live outlook.com  (old hotmail)

Outlook live allows alias option i.e

Login email account = dazzdahotstud@outlook.com

alias = dazzler@outlook.com

Give out alias to other ppl, they cannot log into your email account using that alias, and hence cannot hack it.  Also if need be you can delete that alias and create multiple other alias when you feel like you need a new one.

After this identity theft issue, I'm so paranoid that I have alias everywhere

It’s not too much of an issue if your email has been pawned, as long as you change your password now an again then no one can access your email client.

Unless you start getting to much spam then of coarse you may wish to change emails.
