Just got an email from Hyundai introducing the new i30 SEDAN.

Apparently they've finally scrapped the Elantra name.

Due here later this year.

Got this too and thought, don't they mean elantra?
First impression was that it looked like a fastback.
Wonder how the boot opens.

Good point.
Looking at how far back the rear door goes, I'm guessing a pretty small boot so a normal boot lid opening might be OK.

Not sure about the styling inside or out.. They seem to be all over the place with their ideas.. I personally prefer evolutionary, not revolutionary. Will be very interested to see some in the flesh.

Apart from the grill, i reckon it looks great from the side and rear.

And the grill will have to accommodate a dirty great number plate which might break down its appearance a bit.

I'm not sure if I like the V impression across the doors :undecided: definitely don't like the console hand rail or the steering wheel design, digital cluster should be nice.

Craig and I don't always agree but they are my main concerns too..  :goodjob2:

Different.
Dash doesn't do much for me.
Do like steering wheel - big gap at bottom means the left hand can sit there comfortably.  :goodjob:
Time will tell.

Well the new design language evoked a response in me... yuk. Looks like they hired the guys that did the rear of the Civic to do the rear of this car. Interesting move given the very conservative looks of the current gen i30.

The interior though looks thoughtfully put together. Shame about the exterior.

Very attractive, but still like Fastback better. It's much more practical  :Drive:
