hi all hope someone can help, bought this tablet new two years back worked fine, have had apple ipad2 since they first came out must be 5 years old no prob, so when I got the new Samsung thought not worth insurance as never had a problem with pc's in past. I had the Samsung tablet in a genuine cover. put it on a shelf for a minute , came back it had fallen so cat must have jumped up on shelf  :disapp:. when I go to turn on nothing then try again looks like screen broken as has multi coloured lines one side and a crack line then blank other side. would have fallen no more than 3 foot. can they be repaired
thanks for any help.

Cost of repair not likely to be worth it John as may have damaged internals as well.  :disapp:

thanks dazz, my old iPad is out dated but still works fine, the iPhone 7 I think I got it 4 years back has different operating system to the ipad2 , I need the operating system like the iphone7 to get the specialised mission control app to work with my e mountain bike. the Samsung galaxy had the mission control app in it and my iPhone 7 has it in it, but the old ipad2 can't find it in App Store .it's a free app but I use it all the time with the bike, custom set up for longer rides also can see distance you have ridden and temp of motor temp of battery can set the ride your doing in and bike custom sets electric assistance as knows what elevation hill's you are riding up are and just helps enough you still have to work, also makes sure you don't run the battery flat before you finish. I used to carry Samsung in back pack, so will see how much for a new iPad as have dropped both iPhone and Ipad2 dropped iPhone down a flight of tiles stairs but no damage they seem robust.

When my grandson dropped his iphone we used our house & contents insurance to get it repaired. I dont know if they would have replaced it if not repairable, might be worth a shot if you have house & contents insurance and if the excess is not to high.

Or before you approach insurance co as premiums will prob go up, is there a repair shop who could have a look to see if just screen or check internals?
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

We are with Suncorp and our premiums actually went down when due for renewing ( with a bit of negotiating of course ) anyway no harm in asking. We did have to take the phone to a repairer and get a written quote and they charged for that but that was reimbursed  by the insurance co. Good luck. :goodjob2: ( Bit more inffo.) We had personable valuables cover  for $2000 with $100 excess  that was used in this claim.

If that's true I would  definitely have second thoughts about using insurance. The grandsons iphone was over $800 so was worth claiming.

My 7" Samsung Galaxy was $178.
Pretty sure the 10" ones were around $300.They're wifi only. The ones that take a sim card as well might be a bit dearer.

I think more (exact) information is required as in the model number. having a quick search purely based on "9.7" tablets does result in modls up to $800. A 10.1 Tab A is around $300 we've has one for a few years now.

Samsung screens for phones are not cheap in comparison to Apple and I expect the tablets to be similar. I saw a repair shop quote $350-400 for a complet screen and digtiser replacement for a 9.7.

Maybe you can find a good used one and transfer the files? I have done a S5 replacement, still cost me $120 for a genuine screen and that was on the cheap
