I had my Niro 2 sat nav updated yesterday with the latest files.

I have noticed that the speed limits displayed on the map are now strange

Previously the sat nav would display 30mph, 40 mph, 50 mph, 60mph and 70 mph for various roads.

It now displays 29mph, 39 mph, 49 mph, 59 mph and 69 mph. which is a nonsense

KIA/TomTom seem to have changed the UK speed limits unilaterally.

Can anyone offer an explanation.

That's a strange one

Let us know how your dealer (or whoever updated) explains it...

I posted the problem on the UK KIA forum.  59 minutes later I received a PM from KIA Customer Services asking me to PM the VIN No of the car. Also to change the units from mph to kph and back again. I have already tried that without success. I have sent them the requested info and await their response.

I spoke to the service manager at my dealers and he said it was a rum one - no-one else has complained after an update and it's something they would not have noticed themselves.

Back in the days when I owned i30's - there was no way that Hyundai Customer Services would monitor a forum or reply to an Email in less than a few days. Perhaps this is why we now see more KIA cars out and about with the exception of the i10 which is far more prominent than its sister the KIA Picanto.

A development

My dealer today updated their showroom Niro which is identical to mine.

It is perfectly Ok and the speed limits display correctly. The dealer, KIA Customer Services and me are all gob smacked.

We did another trip to Wales today to view the canal boat we are considering hiring. It is superb and we reserved it on the spot for the week commencing 7th July 2018..

THis morning, I set the Niro sat-nav to direct us there and found another problem. The route took us from the M42 and down the M5 to lead on to the M50 etc. As we were approaching Junction 6 on the M5 the sat-nav voice directed us to take the slip road to the A449 Worcester. However the map displayed that we should continue on the M5. I zoomed the map and saw that we were being directed off the motorway to the junction island then 50 yards on, directed down the slip road back onto the motorway in the same direction again. It was a bloody nonsense.  I obviously ignored it.

This did not happen when we travelled down here on Sunday before the sat-nav was updated so it appears the update has introduced a bug.

KIA customer Services sent me a message while we were out asking me to re-set the head unit by depressing a small pin located next to the volume control knob. It was too late for me to try this when I saw it so I will give it a whirl tomorrow after I download all my sat nav address book (favourites, Waypoints etc) to a memory stick

The latest news is that the 50 year old owner was a fitness and health freak with a love for boats and water sports.

He went rowing every week-end on the local river. On Sunday just before we arrived at the boatyard he had been out rowing on the river and keeled over when he got home. He had had a stroke.

They have opened his skull and removed the blood clots on his brain and he is now trying to talk - but very immobile.  The staff at the boatyard are devastated because he was such a fit, hands-on manager. They can hardly believe he has become so ill.

Oh Wow! Thanks for that Alan.. Not good to say the least. Hopefully being so fit will help with his recovery in the longer term.  :disapp:
