Post by: eye30 on December 29, 2016, 13:07:09

If you’re frustrated by those Facebook apps that publish sneaky posts on your Timeline, the good news is that it’s very easy to block them.

The sensible thing is not to install Face Ache in the first place.  Once posted the posts are stored in their data base even if you get rid of this parasitic program.

But without a BaseFook profile, how will you ever have a life, millions of genuine friends, and a way of comparing your happiness to everyone else's? :crazy1:

No different than your Telco and Internet provider, and Google and Microsoft.

If you want to remain anonymous, pull the plug  :)

It is impossible to have millions of genuine friends. You can't possibly know that many people. I doubt whether the average person has more than a dozen or so true friends. We send about fourty  Christmas cards, but I think that the majority are family and  neighbours. I have a perfectly happy life without face ache. How did you live before it came onto the scene.

I only have have around 175 friends on facebook. If I got rid of a few duplicates (people with more than one profile) it would be under 170.

It has been brilliant to reconnect with some long lost past work colleagues and so forth. I'm not sure how I would have been able to find and stay in touch with them if it were not for FB.  :victory:

There are quite a few others from my past that I would like to be in touch with on a casual basis but unfortunately they are not on FB.  :Pout:

How many out of the 175 are real friends in the true meaning of the word? How long have you known them? How often do you see them?

There are perhaps 20 or 30 family connections, 20 from my school days, probably 10 long term forum members and most of the rest are people I worked with at various jobs before I retired. I worked in banking for about 20 years and half a dozen different retailers for the next 18 or so. They are spread all over the world, so some I will never see again in the flesh, but they are all people I could have a good chat with if we caught up face to face.

I know where you are coming from. I know lots of young people with over a 1000 friends and they can't possibly know all of them. I reject friend requests often from people I don't know.

A friends granddaughter brags about over 700 friends on face ache. When I asked how many she had met,she seemed surprised and said only those who went to her school.  :tease:
