A mother whose teenage son racked up a £4,000 bill on FIFA 14 has claimed there should be tighter controls on "in-game" purchases.

On one occasion her 13-year-old, who had been buying "Player Packs", spent £1,000 in 24 hours.

How will tighter controls work when the mother clearly has given the lad her PASSWORD to access the paid account on her iPad, Xbox, PC or whatever other device....

You've think that if something needs password protection the mother might have the wit to realize that the password is there for a reason <sigh>

Or a simpler solution.  "Don't buy anything online without my approval." 

Both my kids (11 and 13) have either iPods or tablets of some kind.  They always ask if they can purchase an application or DLC (down loadable content), even if it is free.

You don't need a password to use a credit or debit card, at least not here in Oz.
All you need is the card (or card details) and you have instant access...

I know of at least 2 parents that have had their cards "borrowed" without their knowledge by their kids who then used them for unauthorised purchases.

And Jamie, you are lucky you have good kids....

You can be "unlucky" and get a "bad" kid.
But there's very little luck about getting good ones.
Good ones are the ones who respond to love, care and attention from their parents.
The "luck" comes into it when one of them falls foul of outside influences.
