Morning all
I just thought I would ask the question  .... what are you getting ?
My 2011 i30 2 litre has just had it's 120k service and returns approximately 400k's per half a tank, (indicated), these day's !
One reason I get this is I take the time to fill it up properly.
Yes, it takes time as its a very slow filler but I find its worth it for the range I get.
How are others going out there ?

I'm doing Melbourne - Adelaide runs, about 800 km each way, and getting 4.2 l/100km, getting into Adelaide with just under 1/2 a tank. :victory:

Hi Gonz
Thats a diesel for you !
Amazing ar'nt they ....
Ive just replaced my first set of front brakes pads at that service.
At 120k I thought I did quite well but with the long running your doing Im guessing your going to tell me something that will put that to shame !

Hi Gonz, that's great. I thought I did well with my petrol i30 on my last trip achieving 7.1 / 100km but the diesel is sure economical. :goodjob2:  Must admit I kept to the speed limit of mostly 110 km per hr for a good part of the way.

Yeah, Dazz among others could vouch for my Volvo-hat-like driving, squeezing the most out of that econoguage.

I tend to drive 5-10 kph below posted limits and take a leisurely pace with acceleration. :victory:

... everything my AFG driving wasn't! :snigger:

So far I have been averaging around 750 -770km's every 50ltrs of fuel, half an half for town and Hwy driving...after the tune is done today/tomorrow I should notice some better mileage :fingers:

Hmm, with a similar car to yours, I did Sydney to Wagga with an avg of 6.5 at 110km/h and I wasn't all that wrapped in my result either, given official combined is supposed to be 6.9/100

Hi pidim,   I guess after owning a falcon that drank fuel this seems like a bonus ,mind you the Falcon engine was a 4.2 compared to the i30 1.8 . I am hoping fuel usage will get better when I have done more milage as I have only 6905 km on the clock at the moment.

The official figures are only a guide and are basically there so you can compare between different makes & models of cars.  :)
Expecting to get those sort of figures out in the real world is pretty unrealistic...

Here are some articles that may help explain things:

Highway driving at 120/130kph I sit at around 7.6l/100km, but lately my foot has become a bit heavy and in town it goes up to around 8l/100km. I do around 50/50 town and highway driving and I usually get around 600 - 650km per brimmed 53l tank

I have to add, this is at 195'000km currently and I got her last year with 155'000 on the odo

Thank's Rusty , that made for some interesting reading. I am quite happy with 7.1 / 100km on a run and feel even happier having read the fuel economy expectations. :goodjob2:  Although diesel engines are really thrifty, in my situation  only doing very low milage  I can't justify the extra cost of the vehicle but I do think they are an excellent vehicle for people that do extended km's. :goodjob:

I don't go all out to get good economy. I enjoy driving (which doesn't mean hooning), so my 8.1 l/100k since new is fine by me. More town stuff than I used to but the overall figure hasn't changed a whole lot. And low 7s are reachable on long trips.

My wife's 1.8l Corolla auto has averaged 7.2 l/100k since we bought it nearly 2 years ago.

I think your motor is the older 1.6 Mpi motor as in the Getz? (not the newer Gdi ) Not a bad little motor. :goodjob:

I think (speaking under correction) I have the G4FC motor, the same one as in the first Gen i20's. I am not sure as we used to get the Getz 1.7 CRDI and then (speaking under correction again) a 1.3 or 1.4 petrol engine as well that I am aware of.

Sad to say, a bit more than a year ago all I knew about Hyundai was that they had a logo similar to Honda but it was pushed skew :p

I'm currently getting 11.7 l/100km.  However, that is with a 6l V8 running 98 octane fuel.

C'mon fellas!!  Please help me keep my job, drive your cars with spirit!!

In my diesel, I was getting about 4.4l/100 kms consistently.
Now I am getting 4.9l/100 kms consistently.
Same driving, same driver, same conditions, same everything except for one thing.
Can anyone guess what?
Clue: You'll have to pm me for the answer as I won't be posting it.   ;)
