On Wednesday (3rd Jan) I picked up my daughter from her flight back from Singapore into Coolangatta. Her washing machine had been playing up so she decided that, even though she'd not slept on the plane, we should call in and buy a replacement. Which we did. Got home to her unit around lunchtime and walked across the bridge into Brisbane's CBD for lunch. Then took a scenic route home. Down towards the river and the old Botanic Gardens, through them and across the Goodwill Bridge to South Bank and on to South Brisbane.

This is the back of the Brisbane GPO. Forget the name of this laneway.

This dentist must be making money.

Still plenty of older buildings around.

And a few "not so old".

The Victory Hotel. Severely fire damaged in 2008 and re-opened by early 2009.

The Port Office Hotel. been under water more than once but survives as a great watering (

) hole.

At the bottom of Edward St you are back on the river and entering the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.

It's hard to accept you are in the middle of a major city at times.

Crossing the footbridge to South Bank, looking back to QUT and the "Tower of Power"

Lots of river traffic.

The Queensland Maritime Museum.

The "Pink Lady" on which young Jessica Watson from the Sunshine Coast sailed around the world ALONE at age 16. Now preserved at the maritime Museum.

Note the size of the helipad.

Named for a famous Qld Doctor who is also known for being the mother of Diane Cilento. Who was also known as Mrs Sean Connery.

I have to say, there are lots of great walks around the Sunshine Coast but I'm really enjoying rediscovering Inner Brisbane with my daughter.

Trish picked me up from Launceston airport at about 8.30 Pm on Saturday night after my two weeks in Perth WA. I thought Trish deserved a treat after neary 6 weeks of babysitting grandkids so we stayed in Hadspen for the night and had a nice Lunch in Launceston the next day and afternoon tea in Elizabeth town on the way home.

Had a lovely early morning walk in Hadspen (virtually a suburb of Launceston) on Sunday morning.

Hi Daz, bringing the subject back from Instagram, when using your S8 for pics, do you put it into Pro mode & manually set settings or just use point n shoot as default?

I was laughing to myself as I remembered once a mate in tassie said to me, " you would have to be bloody lazy to starve in tassie!! " he had taken me to get a bucket of muscles & a bucket of oysters he knew were to go to find them. we where down near cygnet south of Hobart . he then cooked up a pot of chowder.
I'm thinking of that looking at jazz's pic's, every set has a meal in it, ha ha

Just point and shoot not even in highest resolution!

I just spent an hour uploading 30 photos of one of my favourite walks, from Dicky Beach to Currimundi along with descriptions with each photo.
It disappeared when I hit the back button instead of post.

No way I'm going through all that again.
I'll throw up the photos by themselves.
Then go get a cup of tea (large)

Found a new walk, northside of Currimundi Lake. The wider area near the beach is pretty much original coast scrub with a network of narrow foot tracks. Saw a very tiny little honeyeater and a family of king quail. Will be back when I have more time.
