Hi all,

I have a strange problem with my car and wanted to check if anyone else face this, since I am not able to find a solution.

So whenever I have hit a pothole or some deformity in the road and I need to break immediately after that for some reason the brakes locks up.
I had this happen to me a few times, so it wasn’t one off problem.

Since then, I have replaced all 4 tyre and brake pads.

I have showed the car to hyundai service center, they ran all computer checks and said there was no issue with ABS. Same from a local garage.

It’s very strange. I want to sell the car but I feel morally obliged to solve the issue before selling.

I bought the car approved used from Hyundai 1-2 years ago. It’s a 2013 1.4 Hyundai i30 classic. (It had only driven 23k and had 4+ owners, perhaps that was my clue, but it didn’t click then)

Thanks

To be clear are you saying braking is normally fine, but after the car has had a jolt then they lock up next time you brake?

One wheel?

That’s exactly what is happening.

I can’t pin point which wheel, but it locks up and I have to repeatedly brake to get control over the car

Wow! That's crazy. Can't say I've ever heard of that fault before.   :undecided:

That’s what is mind boggling. For the life of me, I can’t figure out the issue.

The car had 4 owners within 22k miles. Doesn’t sound normal.

Yes, that is highly unusual and does ring a few alarm bells!

My old car had 4 owners within 2 years. 1st was the dealer, because they pre-registered it under their name. I was registered as the 2nd owner, which was a mistake because it should have been registered to the lease company. When lease company finally twigged, they became the 3rd owner, then when I bought it at the end of the lease, I became the 4th owner.

In summary, 4 owners in 2 years, but apart from the first 327 miles, it was in my care the whole time.
