Here we go again (let me know if my photo guides are rubbish. If they are I'll stop doing them)...

I wanted to see the speakers, so the door card came off. Here's how...

1. Door card in place...

2. Nifty little hinged screw cover behind door handle - unscrew screw...

3. Another nice little hinged screw cover in door pocket - unscrew screw...

4. This is the place to start pulling the door card, so the lower popper studs come out first...

5. The whole door card pops off really easily - except for here, where you need to slide it back from the tweeter cover...

6. Door card removed...

7. Here's what's behind the door card...

8. Be careful not to break a popper stud  :( ...

11. Speaker connector plug (out of focus!)...

12. 6" speakers (152mm). Very basic paper cones...

Yup - good pics. Thanks.

De-riveting shouldn't be a problem, unless they start to turn when being drilled.

They are virtually a sealed unit though... and the i30 is relatively quiet compared to most other cars in its class...

Dude. this is an amazing tutorial, Ive been hunting all over for this, thankfully tzwientjuh linked me to here.
Just out of interest, are the rear speakers the exact same mount as the front ones?
In the getz the rear door speakers were the same, but the mount was different, as they space was less deep. Therefore this meant a custom mould was needed, which I didn't bother with.
One small problem i can see here... can you remove that speaker mount, because it looks like you can't, or can you remove the speakers and change them...
I though it would be something like how you showed, but the getz had a slightly different set up, il post pics about it sometime.

You probably have to dril out the silver 'nails' then remove the speaker. And drill holes in the door to fit other ones ...

Nah. Those rivets will easily drill out using an 8mm bit

On the site of Pioneer, they say you have to drill holes "Installating notes: needs drilling"
http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/car_accessories/Hyundai/i30/10_2006/index.html

Then when the drilling is done, you must use some kind of spacer where you can mount the speaker on

Does these pictures help at all?
They are from when i installed speakers in the front of the getz, i have removed them an installed a set of Kenwood ones, a lot better, but despite the different make it shows how similar it is to the i30(by the sounds of it) and shows how i mounted them using original equipment.
Unfortunately im having problems uploading the pics 2 here.. mite b 2 large..
anyway follow this link to my bebo page (like myspace etc) and you can see them here.

the size of the mount that i have is approx 175 mm diameter from one hole to another.. is this the smae as the i30?

Nice pictures.. Im wondering, you didnt remove tweeter cover? .. Any ideas how to do that, Im having annoying sound from tweeter assembly so I'm trying to open it (and dont know/have courage how)

..That door looks so technical, Im about to leave my tweeter issue to the professionals

thanks :)

Thought this useful guide was worth a bump now that the pictures are back. Although the door is sealed (pic 7) there were a couple of holes in the panel that allowed me to push out a nasty dent with a blunt screwdriver, saving a few notes in body shop repairs. Thanks!

hi
the pics are great//to bad i found this site after i already  removed the door cards

does anyone have the picture of what is under the silver plate? could be that those rivets of the speakers are internal screws? (needed to be opend from within the door after removing the silver plate?!)?

thanks fox

P.S i will upload pictures of how to remove the radio trim for those who don't have the upper tray above the radio

Welcome yanivr23.. I'm pretty sure they are rivets (not internal screws)

hey dude, the speakers are riveted in, so you need to drill them out. after that re-riveting is the only way, unless you can get plastic gromits to allow screws to thread into them.

welcome :D

I did change front speakers to Pioneer TS-1702i. I removed old speakers and used old assembly for a new one.

I added correct cables for new speakers and a sealing for assebly.

Some "noise reduction" is added...

Around spare wheel

But more is needed to be done. Original isolation is next to none.
