Birmingham Town Hall hosts some concerts, recitals and other entertainment during the day, and Libby and I go fairly often as a prelude to some serious shopping. The resident organist, Thomas Trotter, has been performing there for 30 years and is a favourite of mine

I was accused of retreating into my second childhood when a few weeks ago I reserved some tickets to see a performance by The Bubble Man. My wife Libby really didn’t want to go – but came along today as an excuse to do some shopping afterwards.

Although the show is aimed at kids, his ability to create the most fantastic range of bubbles was awesome and we both loved the show. It was 90 minutes of pure fun and escapism.
