I know there are a couple of guys that have done the ceramic type of coating over there paint..
Though I'm not sure if anyone has gone to the trouble of doing PPF (Plastic protection Film)

I went with a Wax finish.  Using Collinite 845 Insulator Wax      :link: Insulator Wax » Collinite

Very easy to apply either by hand or by a DA machine..  DA machine does turn out better though.
I did apply mine via a DA polisher,  I would say, including washing the car, chamois dry & then applying the wax.
It took me just over 2 1/2 hours to complete.    Makes the paint look a lot deeper & a great shine..

Photos & a couple of videos weeks after of the water beading..

It's come up a treat, looks really nice :goodjob: I'm glad I no longer have to apply polish and waxes though :)

I was the same doing it by hand..   Now I have a DA machine, makes it so, so much easier..
Plus it really only needs doing every 6 months..   A few hours every six months is pretty easy.
And cleaning the car is so much easier as well..

Now I have a DA machine

What be one of those then? Sounds interesting...

A friend of mine has a new store in Rockingham that sells top notch dual action polishers :link: Maxshine Dual Action Polisher - 6 Inch Plate 21mm Orbit - The Master

Nice... I think I'll stick with this one (I got it for $40 on special a while back)...

Dazz, Let’s see how long it lasts :undecided: I don’t expect long at 120watts :disapp:

Being a tradesman back in the day I have respect for good quality tools, if it ain’t Hilti Makita or Dewalt it wouldn’t have gone in my tool bag :spitty:

What is a 30+ day? We seldom if ever get those in Devonport and if we did I wouldn't be working on my car..  :whistler:

The amount I've used it so far i'm betting it will last more than 10 years..

Hope it works when I plug it in!   :sweating:

OK! So I'm convinced! I'm going to bite the bullet and get my car Ceramic coated. But, I think I'll do it myself. No expense spared.

I think you're pulling my leg :snigger: At that price it would have to be a cheap knock off, probably do more damage to the clear coat than protect it

If it were a genuine product there is quite a lengthy preparation to applying Ceramic coatings as the paint has to be fully decontaminated prior to applying, whatever is under the coating when applied is there for ever.

Needs extremely bright lighting at all four corner so it's possible to see the paint work as it's being applied being it's virtually invisible to see the stuff and needs even application at a micron level thickness, and knowing the cooler Tassie temps it'll likely need curing under heat lamps.

Sort of stirring, but I have really ordered some.. After what Craig said I might try it on an inconspicuous part first and do some research on reviews.  :undecided:

:D just trying to help, I'd hate to see anyone's car messed up

Dazz, That stuff looks a bit similar to what the dealers use when you buy paint protection, requires yearly maintenance with a 3 year life span.

The genuine ceramic + coatings are guaranteed for 7 years and can last a lifetime if looked after correctly :link: Ceramic Coating & Car Paint Protection | Opti-Coat Pro

This one is pretty positive too! I think I'll give it a spin. The hardest part will be the prep. I get pretty sore polishing my car these days. A wash, clay bar then polish then apply coating will nearly kill me! I might have to enlist help!  :crazy1:

Going by the couple of videos that I have watched.  It doesn't look to bad. Specially for the price..
But as CraigB has said. I don't think it will be something that will be long lasting..
But hey, if it can last a year & then reapply once a year. Still works out pretty good for the $$ spent
